The Dark Times is a Star Wars Battlefront II mod with a heavy single-player focus. It adds many new features to the game, including (but not limited to!) wave modes, randomized units, heroes, and skyboxes, and AI hero support. Its sequel, Rising Son, adds more of the above as well as several new maps and scripted missions.

The Dark Times

--------
Thanks for trying out "The Dark Times!" This is a more-or-less experimental mod; I wanted to just try out some things I thought would be interesting tweaks to the game and figured that this mod would be a good platform to use.
This mod adds the "Dark Times" era to your instant action list. Several different modes are available in the Dark Times era:
Conquest (all maps)
Hero Assault (Coruscant, Naboo, Mos Eisley)
Duel (Mos Eisley)
Wave (Coruscant, Death Star, Felucia, Hoth, Kamino, Kashyyyk)
Space Assault (Space Corellia, Space Dantooine, Space Nar Shaddaa, Space Raxus Prime)
Team Dogfight (Space Corellia, Space Dantooine, Space Nar Shaddaa, Space Raxus Prime)
--------
Notes on individual modes:
Conquest: Includes random skydomes on outside maps, Random heroes and AI heroes in singleplayer
Hero Assault: New saber combat system - light/heavy attacks, charging force powers
Duel: Hero assault minus force powers
Wave: Objective-based survival mode; enemies come in "waves." All waves SP-only, except Hoth and Kamino
Space Assault: Standard space assault with new space vehicles
Team Dogfight: Team deathmatch with starfighters, includes space heroes/hero vehicles, AI heroes (SP)

to tell you the truth, i didnt like this mod too much.
here's why:
-Horrible heroes :(
-units are hard to control
-laggy
-nothing new
Lag is only ever a function of your computer, this mod doesn't affect it.
Perhaps you could elaborate on "horrible heroes," because that by itself doesn't make much sense.
Nothing new? Are you daft and you just missed the long list of new things in the release post?
If the units seem hard to control, that's because you aren't used to them. They are very different (new melee system, also, see above complaint where you posited "nothing new"), but that doesn't mean they are difficult to control.
Those aren't really very well-thought-out complaints.
im sorry.
the lag has stopped now that i have upgraded my system.
by "units are hard to control" i mean that they are kind of slow and the guns are not that good
i didnt really like the heroes because the force powers were kind of lame (and the "charging" was kind of annoying). another thing is that they were confusing. for example i would choose obiwan and have to adapt to a windu attack, aayla secura also has some weird attack. vader cant dash or do his "null" attack and basically the most fun elements of each of the heroes was taken away.
ive been playing the mod a lot more recently and ive gotten used to it. All-in-all i actually liked having some new heroes/units once i got the hang of them.
Great Job with the mod although i still think that there are some annoying elements in it such as speed of units, hero attacks/forces and etc.
Anyways im sorry if my original post was too vague and i could see how you could get insulted by it so heres my explanation/apology.
All of the heroes are supposed to be different - and that shouldn't be an indictment against them simply because they're not what you're used to. I suggest you read the "NewSabersystem.rtf" document in "Star Wars Battlefront II\GameData\addon\BDT\DarkTimesdocs"
i think ure mod was great far more original than the others
yeah the units are hard to control(i did something that removed the error but i don't remember what) the other things are good XD
well does there come a new version??
this mod is great, thanks for your hard work, do you have any other mods for this game? ^^
This Mod is awesome!!! I especially like the Heavy Trooper with his Electrostaff. :)
Before I download this... does it add files or replaces them?
This adds files. It does optionally replace some of your original config files, to update the game to the unofficial 1.3 patch (a requirement for this mod). The unofficial 1.3 patch does not break any compatibility, online, offline, mods, or otherwise.
