The Dark Times (and its successor, Dark Times II: Rising Son) is a mod focused on delivering a solid singleplayer experience in a traditionally multiplayer game, Star Wars Battlefront II.
The mod draws from the time period before and during the beginning of the Galactic Civil War. Several prominent characters from the movies as well as the expanded universe show up as one of over 20 new heroes added to the game - each hero supported by a special "hero support" unit.
While the mod of course supports multiplayer (and in fact has some scripted missions specifically for multiplayer), the majority of the content in the mod is designed with the intent to diversify the singleplayer experience - which is why there is a focus on randomization. A number of new game modes have also been added, including the popular "wave mode."

Hi all! If you're still playing this in 2017, be aware that the Steam version of Battlefront II just issued an update that re-enables multiplayer but breaks compatibility with the 1.3 patch, a core tool used to enable a lot of the neat features in mods like this one.
Thankfully, user Spiret has updated Zerted's 1.3 patch to be compatible with the recent multiplayer update, and you can and should download it here if you're having any issues:

Is there a way NOT to have heroes appear?
Didn't this mod used to have randomized unit skins for the Imperials? I'm only getting the blue ones now whenever I play it.
how to uninstall the mod?
I had read everything at least a dozen times to make sure to correct and do every process correctly. I had managed to get it all figured out. the layout for the loading screen was different. I knew I had finally figured out how to download it. on the final loading screen it boots me and closes the application application unfortunately enough. In the help documentation I didn't see you mention any issue like this.
Is this compatible with Harrisonfog's remaster mod? If so how do you install it with the mod since they both have different patch versions? The remaster mod need r130 and this has r129.
Has the game been crashing on start for anyone else or just me?
great mod
I'm guessing there won't be any future updates?
There should be, this is a really great mod.
Hey guys, this is a really cool mod! Just wondering, how do all the Force powers work? I've been playing Hero Assault, and I've had trouble trying to figure out how to deal the most damage/push people the farthest. How do I make it work?
Most of them are charged abilities, so hold down the button (like you're using the arc caster in the vanilla game) and release when you're ready to use it. Most charge for a few seconds max.
That's the perfect analogy. Thanks so much! I later figured it out, but still, thanks!
