Description

A stripped down variant of the Hideki corvette, the Tarim-class is the Cardassian military's primary scout and reconnaissance ship. Specially modified to suit its role, the Tarim is often found on the frontiers of the Union, seeking out new resources and pinpointing the positions of the Union's enemies.

Crewed by hand-picked Cardassian soldiers known for their solitary personalities, the Tarim is not nearly as unpopular with its crews as its larger brother, the Hideki. Stripped of most of its combat abilities, the Tarim requires a smaller crew and has a more spacious, comfortable interior suited for long voyages.

While not entirely defenceless, the Tarim has been stripped of most of the Hideki's combat ability. Its non-confrontational nature mean that, unlike the Hideki, the crews of Tarim scouts are often viewed as well-trained professionals among their peers in the fleet. This does, however, mean that the Tarim isn't of much use in a fight, and that the Tarim must rely on its powerful engines to escape any threats it comes across.
