Description

With the venerable K'tinga cruiser becoming slowly outmoded by its Federation and Romulan counterparts, the Klingon Defence Force was left increasingly dependent on its fleet of small, fast Birds of Prey. In an attempt to modernise the Klingon Defence Force and rejuvenate their fleet of cruisers, the Klingons took to developing an entirely new class of warship - the Deathrite.

Entering service in the 2330s, the Deathrite featured many design characteristics that would not be seen again on Klingon ships until the launch of its bigger brother, the Vor'cha, decades later. The Deathrite was an instrumental part of several campaigns to expand the Empire in the first half of the 24th Century and serves today alongside its younger brothers as a medium cruiser - a role it is bound to fill for decades to come.
