Hi guys. Misery is my first STALKER experience. I love it, it's hard but rewarding. My question is if I want to play other STALKER games (SOC for example) which mods are the best after playing misery? I see a lot of options (lost alpha, clear skies, complete mod?) but was wondering what you guys would recommend. Graphics is a BIG issue for me, for atmospheric reasons. Thank you.

Stalker SOUP is pretty epic from what I have eard and seen. Never played it, but it seems to be pretty dificult just like Misery. It alsow does have pretty good Graphics since thats something your into.
Still, if you want, you could try Misery again with the armed zone mod. It increases the arsenal of the game and imo improves some of the weapons that are already in Vanilla Misery. Asthetically I mean.

Forgot to mention that Stalker SOUP is for Shadow of chernobyl.

Thanks for the heads up, will look into it. Yeah the original misery I'm playing with armor mod :)

Also forgot to ask - I hear some talk about Metro 2033 redux being something similar to Stalker but with current age graphics. Is that game on par?

Edit- I found this Moddb.com photo realistic zone 2 which makes a HUGE improvement in SOC. I think now I just need to find the mod with the right "feel" to add to it.

More opinions welcome!

Metro 2033 is a linear game. It is a great game, but it is NOT at ALL S.T.A.L.K.E.R., and if you go into it expecting S.T.A.L.K.E.R. you will come away with a vague sense of disappointment.

Having said that, they both absolutely nail the atmosphere portion, and the atmosphere of both games is similar. You will likely enjoy Metro 2033 just as long as you don't pretend it's a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game.

I found metro 2033 disappointing it has not much replayability value if you spoiled by the stalker series, though ranger difficulties are very difficult. It has a high thrill factor but not free world so it is a bummer.

Moddb.com Autumn Aurora 2 is pretty good for SoC, I haven't given it a large whirl yet but it is nice. It has a 95% rating and it is really nice to look at as well.

Avoid using autosaves, use hard saves only.

for clear sky I used to play warmongers, which has a tons of weapons and extreme mutant spawns but is a bit buggy..faction wars is also kind of fun.

I think there is a second part to METRO: last light, havent played it though

I would love to see MISERY for CS, the world is so much bigger and the faction wars are a lot of fun

Seriously. Unless the group making Call of Chernobyl make it compatible with Misery v2.1.1 Then we are hard pressed to find anything that will satisfy the in depth immersion we get from CoP+Misery.

The only other game drugs we have to take are a vastly overhauled version of Morrowind and Fallout 3. Besides which you have to have followed many of the mods for those games in order to properly match up what works and is compatible with other mods. Otherwise the games crash and glitch out the butt.

I mean how the hell are newbs going to mod a game like those 2 giants these days. I followed both since 2001 and surgically modded my games and crap barely holds together. Last re-install of each took an entire week to install everything PER GAME!....but I digress. I just feel kinda sorry for the people that want the full experience of such games and will never find the appeal =(
(and sorry, I can't upload my modded games either. 17gb each is to much)

Nyayr, thank you so much for the Autumn Aurora suggestion. I am pretty deep in the game, and I have to say - the experience had been very close to Misery in terms of satisfaction. Misery is of course harder, so I have to crank the difficulty up, however the graphics is superb in AA, and I have to say - the models are better in AA imo. Misery's exo suit guys look like cartoonish transformers by comparising. I wonder if this is something that can be manually fixed? Can i import models from SOC into COP?

Anyway, thanks again, I am so glad I went to play SOC before getting too far in COP, SOC is more fun right now since I understand more about the world. :)

I HIGHLY recommend SOC with BoredGunner's "ModPack2013", extremely well done package...

Lost Alpha is good, buggy but good...

looking for mods for Clear skies atm. Tried OGSM but it's still too shiny and bright.
