Weapon sights glitch? (Games : S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat : Mods : MISERY : Forum : General subjects : Weapon sights glitch?) Locked

I'm mostly new to the mod, but for some reason half the weapons iron sights zoom out considerably while some others actually zoom in like a focus. Not with snipers or scopes, like the AK-47 with the zooming out and than the AKMS zooming in. Is this a normal feature or glitch of some sorts?

I would reinstall. Follow these directions: Dropbox.com

Backup your saves first ;)

The weapons with the least friendly high FOV models will have larger iron-sights zoom because the models showed a gap between the weapon and the body or disembodied arms. The rest will have between 10 and 20% zoom depending on your proficiency with them. None will have negative zoom.

Alrighty, Thank you. I am playing as an Assaulter so I'm not sure if this zoom effect is suppose to happen for all assault rifles or a select few, if for all than a few of mine are defiantly messed up.

It was my intent, based upon the results of a survey into what players wanted, to have near zero zoom for all weapons on iron sights. Some of the models simply looked awful with the zoom at 10%,; those models needed 2X zoom to look decent. If you are getting negative zoom, you have mis-installed.

Just to clarify, is this considered negative zoom or is this just 0x zoom? Same slight zoom-out with the AK47* too but only about half of the extent shown above.

If you actually tape a tape measure across your screen, it should be 110% zoom. That's how I did every single weapon and scope at 4 FOV's, 3 classes, four times ;)

Not saying it isn't possible one or two weapons behave microscopically different, but without breaking out my tape measure again, I can't see any change in zoom at all, which is the intent. You should barely be able to notice anything, as if you are simply concentrating vs. having magic bionic man eyes LOL.

By '110% zoom' u mean my view should zoom in 10% looking down iron sights, opposed to above where my FOV widens abit?

As u say I dont really notice it much nor do I mind which way it zoomed, just concerned a negative zoom could be a telltale of a dud installation so wanted to be sure...
Gotta watch out for that bluepill shit ya know?

Yes, the view is supposed to be 10% larger than unzoomed. What model of pistol is it, and what class/FOV are you playing at?

I see...Well I was playing at 75, but I dun forgot I have AbsolutNature4 (+a reshade)ontop too,75 being default selection during its install. Yet miserys defaults 83. After a bit of testing, lo and behold, mismatched FOV seems to cause my zooming out.. pistols zoom in now with both installed at 83 FOV. Good to know, cheers bro :P

Some people get a little twisted when the first thing I suggest is an install error, but it does account for better than 90% of all reported problems.

IF you apply AN4.03 to change grass draw height and distance (always recommended by me) you need to use the same FOV you originally installed with.

As a side note, if you want a little more zoom than when correctly installed, install at one lower FOV than you prefer to play at, and then install AN4 in your favorite flavor for each map, grass options as you like, and at your desired play FOV. It will increase zooms across the board, but still be consistent.

What is the reshade for?
