V-SYNC AND STUTTER | Locked | |

I turned off "v-sync" that I had forced on the nvidea panel, then all the major stutter that I was having in the game was gone. The bad news is that with "v-sync" off there is screen tear, wich for me is worst than ocasional stutter. But it is not the end if you also can not deal with screen tear, using "full v-sync" was better for me than using the "adaptive v-sync", wich I was using for years with this particular game, using "half v-sync" was the same as using the full mode, the difference would be half of fps. Good news is that, with both of them stutter was reduced. If you do not care about screen tear then try with "v-sync" off.MY CONFIGURATION
THESE SETTINGS HELPED WITH THE MAJOR STUTTER PROBLEM THAT I WAS HAVING, HOPE IT WILL BE OF USE FOR SOMEONE ELSE. GOOD LUCK.I WRITE WITH THE BIG LETTERS BECAUSE THEY ARE EASIER TO READ.Edited by: Gandalf: -- "Go back to the shadows" stalker, |

For me it is anti-aliasing that does it. Can have everything else maxed out but as soon as I add even 2x AA, slide show time. |

AA is a big performance killer. I turn it off to maintain steady 60 FPS at 3840x2160. |

I found that either I could play with a higher resolution or have anti-aliasing on, I tend to use 1200x800. I can not handle higher resolutions anyway because of motion sickness. With those settings and "v-sync" turned off I can get 150 fps almost no drops, the only problem is the screen tear, so I leave it on. That only is possible because of the static lighting, if I change for dynamic lighting or full dynamic lighting I will then be able to run 30 fps with instability. My hardware is in the minimal requirements to play the mod. Edited by: Gandalf: -- "Go back to the shadows" stalker, |

If your GPU has a double vsync setting, it might help. Usually there is half, full and fast or double. GPU vsync is better than letting game handle it. I was unable to document and performance advantage trying the AA in-game or several of the GPU settings. I ultimately turned it off because once I tried AN4 with 3840x2160P I just couldn't go back. I can run shadows at UHD when AA is off. |
