So call me weird, but I enjoy the static lighting in the game, not only that it makes the game run solid, I've never encountered a crash and I can max out A-life distance. I'm no tech guy when it comes to mods but would it be possible to have the DX11 render use static lighting while having the benefits of other DX11 capabilities. (SSAO, Tessellation, Wet surfaces, etc.) Again I know its weird but it give the game a nice moody feel and a rock solid 60fps, heck I add Reshade Post processing and have made some really cool effects. Thanks in advance guys for taking the time to look at my post and I am eager to see the new update.

I've never been a graphics snob tweaking maximum AA, etc. via 3rd party apps. I too think static lighting is just fine. I don't think what you want is possible. It isn't via the game settings. I've never really gotten familiar with the features of my GPU's custom settings, but it might be possible to set static lighting renderer in game and override some of the detailed game specific settings in your GPU's own application.

AFAIK using static lighting loads smaller textures so it loads and reloads much faster. You could try DX11 renderer on a lower quality preset setting and then pick and choose which effects to turn on.

The following have the greatest detrimental effect on FPS:

game_relations AI, Antialiasing, Shadows, Sun rays, Dynamic Lighting.

There is an article on page 2 of my profile comments with tips on setting up and optimizing your graphics and a lite version of game_relations which reduces slightly how mutants interact while leaving them hungry for your flesh. The AI processing for their chasing each other endlessly in circles eats a huge amount of processing power.

If 60 FPS is your goal, limit FPS at 60 and your performance will get better. Limiting at 5 FPS below your low average after you have everything else set up visually will yield the best results and enable the highest alife.ltx switch_distance if you desire to go beyond the 300 meter default. You can also drop down to 200 or 250 meters and see another performance boost.

@Jasper thank you for the quick reply. As I figured it wasn't, but I will try as you suggested.

I can achieve a avg. 45 FPS on DX11 with sun shadows (Those kill...) off and I used to limit my FPS to 30 which is fine for a tactical shooter but makes my eyes hurt after a while. Luckily I do not suffer a long loading time so as long as I only keep my primary hard drive plugged in and my secondary unhooked from the motherboard. Weird - I know, not sure if this has been already given a tip but if not I'd recommend everyone try; then again I have 32G of good RAM and 4G of VRAM not sure if that helps.

I actually download your mod yesterday and haven't got around to trying it, I'll do that now and thank you in advance if it helps me out.

Make sure you are not using any admin or compatibility settings with steam (steam hates compatibility settings) and IIRC there was a KB update problem, but I think it was with dx10 or something. You can limit 5 FPS below your low average, so if you can average 45, limit at 40 and things will get smoother. If you have 32GB of DDR, both kcs123 and I have done articles on RAM drives. 4X faster than an SSD and saves your SSD wear. Reloads take 5-6 seconds. Also, may not need mentioning, but with 32GB of RAM make sure virtual memory is not being used at all. Even an SSD is slower than RAM and virtual memory would be a bottleneck.

On a side note, a fairly cheap hot swap drive bay Smile.amazon.com can make life really easy if you frequently need to test or connect/disconnect SATA drives. I have one on most of my computers. I pop in an old smaller 128GB SSD for a fast backup or pop in a drive suspected of viral infection for a quick cleaning, etc.

@Jasper, thanks for the solid advice again friend. How would I go about checking if Im not using virtual memory? Sorry for the late response, my life is like a shark - it attacks with no warning.

What operating system are you using? Just google disabling virtual memory Windows XX

No apologies necessary. That is why release dates are so hard to predict, life - like the Zone - is unpredictable ;)

@Jasper, awesome thanks again. Definite improvement multitasking/startup wise, not so much gaming but I'll take what I can!
