Hi,

So I've been playing misery quite a while now, and I never understood how does sleep works in this game.

I've never had a marker saying I needed to sleep (like food for instance), even if I do agree that I tend to sleep at night since I feel paying food for the time you sleep is far cheaper than batteries at night + the lack of visibility.

Therefore : how does sleep works in this game? Does it increase your stamina or something?

By the way, while I'm at it : eating food considered as "unhealthy" seems to be a point of interest of the classes charts (for instance, recon seems to have the lowest "resistance" to unhealthy food). However, when I eat unhealthy food, I don't seem to suffer any penalty. How does eating unhealthy food affects your character?

Thanks!

If you don't sleep enough, your vision will begin to get blurry, you will lose stamina faster, and eventually drop dead :D Some unhealthy food irradiates you requiring alcohol, smoking or anti-rads to prevent harm. The classes have varying resistances to the effects of bad food. Radiation will kill you slowly if not treated. Some avoid all unhealthy food, some never pay for clean food preferring to mix smoking and drinking with unhealthy food. Misery is all about making choices and adapting your tactics as required to survive and complete your mission. Choices about clean food will become even more important with the next release of the game ....

Thanks for the answer x)

What I don't understand however is the difference between rad resistance and unhealthy food resistance. For instance, sniper has high unhealthy resistance while having mid rad resistance. The recon has high rad resistance, but low unhealthy food resistance : if the unhealthy food only irradiates you, which resistance does it take into account?

The full effects of unhealthy and healthy food will be realized in 2.2. Actually pretty much every object you now see in the game plus some new ones will now have a purpose and effect :D Right now, eat whatever you have anti-rad compensation for or eat stuff that doesn't irradiate you.

If you're going on a longer mission that you know you might get tired from(length+drugs) such as the jupiter plant raid or the underground passage it can be a good idea to use non-radioactive food to prevent your vision from blurring while you're out and about unless you have a pile of caffeine pills. For regular days I tend to eat some boar meat and chug it down with a bottle of vodka.
