Am i the only person having a problem with this place?

3-4 controllers, 1 goddamn fucking chimera, 6-10 zombies, 6 something bandits right beside, several poltergeists, and an elite merc squad with 6+ guys.

Now, the poltergeists drain my hp completely in 5 seconds if I'm even remotely close to them and if i get the blue tint on the screen it can take several seconds to run away from it, the chimera has soaked up 40+ bullets and a grenade exploding right underneath it, the zombies get up and regain seemingly full HP if i don't finish them, the chimera doesn't attack the merc squad.

The only way i'm gonna be able to get close to that place would be if i return to skadovsk and resupply, but if this is how IF is supposed to be, then i assume that they have respawned by then, so any advice on what the fuck to do?, especially regarding the poltergeists as they seem to have the insane HP draining influence beyond 100 meters from the helicopter (i'm on the opposite side of IF, beyond the tree-line

The best thing to do is, get a squad of four people to transport you at that location and have them do the work :) If they die in the process and kill off more than half of those bastards, you get to scavange their loot as well. Quite fun actually :)

Thanks!, good advice, i didn't think about that.

The only problem is that i can't go away from iron forest, because even down by the gas station i sometimes get the blue tint on my screen that kills me in a few seconds.

I have full health and no matter where i go the controller kills me, or i run into a pack of wild dogs which slow me down so that the blue tint gets me.

This is not fun

For me, there were two Burer, some Zombies (-> one / two grenades in the middle), an electricity ghost (Poltergeist? -> one/two aimed shot with a good shotgun is enough)) and two Controller (they weren't exactly at the iron forest area, but they are coming also if you fight the rest there. These controllers were south/east of the Iron Forest Area.

I would try to shoot these controller's first. You only have to hide behind a container or something big -> shoot one time (attack sound from controller) -> hide and so on. Perhaps you can take them out before the rest of the mutants fights you.

Is it possible that you've messed two controller's with two burers?

-

But yes, it was the toughest area for me too.

hmmm i was always cool with burning instant in boiler anomaly or getting killed in secs at fruit punchs... but when i faced the iron forest inhabitants i feeled like call of better gear or get the fu** out.

now im cleaning that place either with npcs (that have unbelievable high health?) or with use of grenades GL and sniper (also sunrise + eco helmet helps (or you eat psy protection pills))

i also wondered why bandits mercs chimeras zombies and controllers all behave like a happy predator family at that location (counted 3-4 bloodsuckers in addition on my last visit :D this is getting insane)

Nope, 4 controllers, i've shot them all dead with my sniper now.
Turns out that they emit the blue field that kills me if they get closer then 50 meters to me.

However, the poltergeists can kill me even faster, i can't even try to approach the heli and they kill me.

The zombies are also back and the bodies of the controllers and mercs are gone, so i can't get any loot either

Dude smoke some chronic and the blue haze will cease to be such a big problem.

Worked for me!

you can also take a couple of shots at the near by mercs and bandits then run past the rest and hide round the corner. they do well to thin the ranks a bit. The mercs killed about 5 zombies and a controller for me.

Also you have the option of sleeping to reset the spawns. Might not be quite so bad next time round.

There's an easy way to cheese that whole place. Ever notice the broken down truck near the north wall? You can jump into the back part and shoot everything in the Iron Forest from there. Bloodsuckers can't get to you, and you can low crouch behind the side of the truck to protect yourself from zombies, controllers, bandits, mercs and anyone else who tries to shoot you. And the poltergeists and burers? Funny thing, their attacks don't reach the truck, so you're free to shoot them in their stupid faces (or bodies in the case of poltergeists). So just camp there with your favorite sniper rifle and a 100 rounds or so and you're set. Don't have a sniper rifle? There's a mint condition AKM on the roof of the nearby gas station, pick that up, bring a scope to put on it and some extra rounds, and you're set. The only thing that can do anything to you in that spot is a pseudogiant and its wallhack stomp attack. However, their spawns are not guaranteed, so save before reaching the area and if you see one, reload until you don't. And if you're adamant about taking them down as well, just slap a grenade launcher on that AKM and go to town. Placing some mines around the truck isn't a bad idea either.

YES! thank you, i'm definitely going to try that as soon as i've repaired my armor and gotten some new supplies

Yeah, i was on 2 drugs that boosted my psy (low tier drugs) but i still got owned.

I'm probably going to have to sleep before i try this agains seeing how i was there for several IRL hours, and i'm gonna bring a stalker squad with me

Aug 5 2013 Anchor

Bringing a stalker squad is a bit costly but you save yourself the ammo that you would waste fighting them. I just hid in the open crate till their fight ended and gave me their loot when they got their beating :D

Aug 5 2013 Anchor

Do the blucksucker quest where you have to find missing stalkers. At the end someone will shoot themselves and drop you some meds.

One of them will give a big boost to psy protection. Then smoke some weed and you should be able to walk around just fine.

When I went to the iron forest there were two controllers, one chimera, and one poltergeist.

Also a couple of zombies.

For me it was a psy dog, two controllers, and a bunch of zombies. Oh, and the poltergeist, of course. I took out the two controllers from a distance with my AK-74su and managed to pistol the poltergeist to death. It's relatively simple as long as you're patient - although having to deal with a chimera obviously sounds like a big undertaking...

Pretty tough, but it wasn't the toughest for me. 7 packs of 6-8 dogs and 1-2 pseudodogs in the Sawmill was the toughest. After killing one, you only have a few minutes until a new pack comes in your way... reloaded at least 100 times there...

In iron forest there was a pack of psy-dogs, 2 burers, and about 8 zombies. Jumping on those rocks north from Iron Forest helps a lot, psy-dogs are very confused, and burers can't even attack you at all. They just come near you, and you can take some shots at them. Zombies were easy to kill too, as they didn't seem to understand from which direction I was shooting at...

Yeah, the zombies were easily dispatched with 1-2 shots each, the problem was that at times i was trapped between them and the chimera/controller so i couldn't stop and shoot either one of them, and there isn't a lot of cover places that aren't irradiated or anomalous

Yeah, due to the chimera i had to constantly move around ( i had moments where it would wander off) which exposed me to controller psy attacks and bandit fire (later merc fire).

I didn't even manage to kill it, the merc squad did, more or less inadvertently

I'm glad there wasn't a chimera at the iron forest for me... those things suck!

Be careful grabbing the tool set under the stairs some psy activity threw it around and hit me with it then I couldn't find it...

Also, if you think this was difficult, wait until you go to Jupiter factory... I was so happy that I still had ~10 bullets when I left that place. I always loved that factory, something about it being so silent gave me the chills every time I went there... including this time :)

Don't you just love how the mod decides to f**k you over so many time? :)
For me there we're 2 poltergeists, 2 controllers, about 7 zombies, 3 bloodsuckers and to top it of Misery decided to spawn 3 burers in the middle of the battle
and It laughed and laughed and I never felt so violated in my life.

Yeah, was on my way home from swamp, got ambushed by 2 bloodsuckers on my way up to the road, as i turn around to unload 2 shells into the one remaining i get jumped from behind by i shit you not - 4 psuedodogs

Aug 5 2013 Anchor

I had a random swarm of about 8 pseudodogs jump out of nowhere near the merc workshops.

I had to run into the mercs to escape the dogs and fight my way through the mercs to get back out.

Aug 5 2013 Anchor

Are you sure you all aren't mistaking burers for controllers? I haven't even seen a controller besides the one in the tunnel and the one in the cave. Burers I know are at the Iron Forest, at least in my game.

Aug 5 2013 Anchor

I had a controller there so they are a possible spawn I think.

And I'm pretty sure it's a controller. No neck, big head, surrounded by zombies, likes walking around in jeans with no shirt, rips your camera out of your head at regular intervals, sounds like a controller.

Aug 5 2013 Anchor

I guess. I haven't seen any at the Iron Forest personally, just a bunch of Burers.

Aug 5 2013 Anchor

And I haven't seen either a pseudogiant or a chimera but people are reporting those. I think the spawns are quite highly randomised.

Aug 5 2013 Anchor

The "sniper" controller gets me every freggin' time I get close to the place.
