Have a question about optimized texture packets. After upgrading from Windows 7 to 10 a few years ago I would experience blue-screen crashes when playing Stalker from Nvidia card fails. It became progressively worse to the point where Nvidia isn't detected at all. I've tried everything under the sun including bringing my laptop to a technician, whatever the reason I'm stuck playing games without a enhanced graphics card until I buy a new computer. (Intel HD still works, as a default). Playing Misery has been out of the question since Nvidia vanished, it's painfully slow but I can play Vanilla okay if all settings are low. After losing Nvidia I installed an SSD so while I don't get the benefits of a graphics card, my system is overall faster than before. Thus I'm wondering if there's a backdoor way to being able to run Misery. Would installing "optimized texture packets" work in my favor in allowing me to take advantage of my fast harddrive or is it more of a RAM/ROM kind of thing? I don't quite understand how that works but hope to find a work around to improve the game's performance without a proper graphics card. Edited by: peistes |

Use static lighting, turn grass density all the way down, most of sliders to minimum, choose a lower resolution than your laptops native one, but with the same aspect ratio. See my hints page for other tips: Moddb.com |
