I assumed that no one would go after Noah, but they did when I was somewhere else. Is there a way of spawning him back because I really want the Compass? Will the quest function properly if I add the compass to Beard's trade file and buy it, then the quest will progress?

In the next play through I'll be sure to set Noah and Lassie invulnerable to fire_damge and rupture damages.

Good luck with that. I've never found a file for Lassie and setting all Noah's resistances to 1 still lets those evil kitties or anything else he shoots his door open while blasting away at get in and make worm food of him. Search for xr_debug_tool.ltx Edit first false to be true, save. Open a save game, hit "esc" then "s" and the spawner menu will open. Type af_compass on the spawn item line hit create and it will be created at your feet (make sure there is room in front of you first) you will, of course, need your detector out to see it. Exit the spwaner, pick up your artifact and save. Change true back to false unless you like all that extra info floating around on your screen :D

Wait, you found Noah's file? Just so you know, setting immunities to 1 makes them take normal damage. Setting immunities to 0 makes anything invulnerable to the modified type of damage.

Just search for "noah" there are only 2 files one for rookie and the normal one. No other NPC has their own set of immunities. I'd swear I tried ZERO's first and he died at first shot, then all 1's and I couldn't kill him. Doesn't matter, it's mutants that kill him, mostly cats which can kill almost anything in armor.

What about cutting off the kitties from the vicinity on the spawn settings ? Could this help avoid his death ?

He shoots at any mutants passing by and just like when he unloads when you knock on the door it pops open. The Noah behavior is probably hard coded. Making the PDA and Compass remain after his body decomposes is probably better than nerfing the activity in his area for the entire game. Ponney figured out how to make the Gauss remain, hoping he can do the same for the other mission critical items left on corpses.

The correct debug file to look for is in the configs\debug folder xrs_debug_tools.ltx and just follow the guidance of Jasper34 above. I was bummed when I came to look for the compass and Noah was MIA. Found this thread and followed the instruction. I found the debug file and the rest is history. Thanks for all the good advise!

My pleasure. Noah's future is looking bright in next release, but debug menu works fine for now.

Spawning Noah is really easy. Turn on the debug as above, then using the spawner, use these two lines.

In the squad field: zat_b18_noah_squad
And in the Smart Field: zat_b18

Aside from that, Noah is really pointless. You can just spawn the compass directly to your feet to skip out all the "find Noah at the old barge" etc.

I wish you really could hire his crazy behind for the tunnels/Pripyat. He would be a gas.

I dunno, considering how trigger happy he is with his shotgun, he would probably kill the rest of the team trying to hit those tuskanos or snorks. :P

I would give it a go with just him and Zulu. I like the pitched battle mowing down snorks in Pripyat. It would be very entertaining. You might find him and Zulu side by side battling mutants :D

I have never understood the reason why there is such thing as compass and we can't use it. Noah disappear on me in every game, never bothered with the quest. He's probably on honeymoon with his bitch, who knows. I wouldn't want to run into him when they are getting intimate.

It was too powerful and would make things less miserable. He gets killed ... for now. You can edit compass properties too and make it so radiation can be managed with AAM. You can edit almost everything, it just makes game less challenging.

I found Compass to be almost useless. In fact, many artefacts are. I only did one "find xx artefact". Every other one I found, I just sold to Beard or the dude in Yanov for cash. I kept only batteries, eye, bubble and sparkler.

Flame is best one I found. Bleeding reduction, increased heat resistance and only weakness to toxic which is usually not that much of a problem anyway. I found that using 2 AAM's with Flame on Exoskeleton makes you almost invulnerable to bloodsuckers and anything below. AAM's also give protection equivalent of 33 kevlar layers while steel plates give you 35. That 2 layers difference is hardly noticeable so you are best off going for pair of AAM's with Flame then with 2 steel plates. They are not so easy to find though.

I used a Moonlight in the various psychic-related missions in Pripyat. +27% psy resistance is quite hefty. While it mostly offsets its own weight when equipped, it actually has negative damage resistance so it had to sit in my inventory most of the time.

Yeah some of them have that sneaky negative Kevlar value because they cause you to bleed. Except for a few pairs of artifacts that counterbalance the bleeding effects most are only useful for brief situations. You do need to read closely, but always look for the word reduction after the Kevlar value on anything that increases bleeding.

Apr 2 2015 Anchor

Wow, wish I'd been smart enough to realise that before equipping two batteries (each at -41ml bleeding) almost permanently ha

The artifacts descriptions are being worked on as well to give better descriptions of the Kevlar equivalents. Bottom line if it makes you bleed more you need a counter that will make you bleed even less or one shot can make you bleed out. I use a stamina boosting artifact like a battery with a bleeding stopper like a flame to give me Psy and Stamina boost with a net positive against bleeding. Sometimes the add-on like frames/grids and plates weigh less and fit the situation more. Misery makes you make choices to fit situations and playing style. In a pitched battle where you only need short spurts of movement and to stop bleeding you can remove the artifact causing bleeding and lose just some stamina. You can take drugs to more than make up for the stamina short term.
