Mod communications Thread - MISERY mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

Hi all,

I've been following this mod since nearly the start and have really enjoyed all the features the team has brought to life in such an old dated game that brimmed with potential and bugs! So well done!

I just wanted to see if maybe it was possible to have a mod update on progress maybe once every 3 months so the fans know where it's at. It's been 6 months since the last update - even if the update was 'hey guys - some key team members have IRL stuff on atm and the squashing of complex bugs in new features that has slowed progress down meaning 2.2 is probably not going to release till early 2017 at the earliest.'

That kind of update would keep us hanging around but off your backs until further down the line. Even if it wasn't ready then you could give us a similar update then and we'd keep our eyes open until the next one.

What do you think of this communication strategy?

It sounded really close to implementation in the last updates but no release yet. My main fear as a fan is that the mod hasn't fallen over as is the fear of many of us STALKER mod fans given many great mods have come and gone in the past. We all remember smrtphnuser's SMRTER Zone Alpha - RIP though I'm confident it's not the case here.

In simplest terms, just wait.

Dudes are working for free on their time, created such complex project and.... all we can do is wait. We are not in any position to ask for anything other than what they are ready to do. Even though they deserve to get paid for their work, nobody is getting any coins.

They are working hard for free, the best thing we can do is give them room and time to do their job. I love to see the new update as much as the next guy, but I know constantly asking where is the next update won't speed up anything.

Several key MDT members are quite busy IRL. That little free time is spent in development, not much free time is left to publish proper news like we all like to see from time to time. Less fancy news is given every couple of days, to let you know what is going on. Unfortunately those comments are buried quickly in comments, lot's of fans probably miss to see those.

I'm afraid I'm a bit of a social media dinosaur ... I don't facebook, tweet, snap chat or any of that stuff. TBH, we don't want to fan the flames with fancy videos when any little hitch could throw a lengthier than desired wrench into things only to disappoint. When so many of our updates are met with "Yeah, but when will it be out... " it puts a damper on the enthusiasm you had to produce it when you're already too busy. If you ever have any serious question about how things are going, I respond to every PM.

Put simply, we have no intention of ceasing work until this is finished. It's only a matter of time, the will has never left any doubt we would finish. We will clue everyone in some on the obstacles our members have overcome during this release after we release. Until then, they will only sound like excuses to the ignorant. Keep the faith and we will keep on grinding...

DesertEagle - hence I asked pretty darn respectfully and simply suggested a way of updating rather than going - WHERE"S OUR MOD UPDATE YOU BASTARDS! Because of course - they owe us nothing. They work they're asses off for the gratitude and nothing more, I've been lurking here long enough to know that very well. I thought my post reflected the respect shown.

Thanks Jasper and Kcs - I figured as such. I wasn't aware that there were update comments posted? I think you're right - they must get buried super quick. But yeah I was thinking updates in simple text. No flashy crap for simple stuff like that as it would waste good dev time fo sho.

Really looking forward to the release of 2.2. I've checked back on these boards every couple of weeks for news or release, i'll keep hanging in there!

I'll hit you up Jasper for any further word on the team in a month or two, you're always all over these boards for queries ;-D

PS I hope all is well in Post Apocalyptia US under Trump lol. Hopefully he chills out and lives up to his 'outsider' positioning and breaks the cycle of wealth inequality exacerbated by the US political system as of late. I've been following it pretty closely and hearing all sides with all their narratives has been super interesting. Just scary to have the leader of the free world being someone like him... :-S

If you are following the mod, you will get an update notification when a news article is posted. Otherwise you just need to check the comments frequently for little tidbits I post when something worth mentioning has happened.
