Well, hello everyone.
There is not clear dead Topol resolve thread.
So I bring you FIX and resolove of this old vannila issue.

Personaly have MISERY 2.1.1 installed (save games are from MISERY 2.1) and when I went second time to area around Jupiter I asked scientists for Intermittent psy-emissions quest, but the first thing I must do was to talk to Topol. EUREKA! No Topol! I was so disappointed so I just does some research on web, but I cant get clear solution, but finnaly I did it!

Its simple, you need only this special tool: Mega.co.nz

Progress:
1) Download the tool
2) Extract this tool to somewhere
3) Go to Stalker CoP install folder
4) In folder "gamedata" backup folders "scripts" and "configs" to somewhere
5) Extracted folder move to CoP install folder, if prompted select "replace to all" or "replace" on everything asked!
6) Run MISERY
7) Load your savegame (you must be in scientists bunker!)
8) Now go to in-game menu (ESCAPE key) and click "Spawn Menu"
9) Click "NPCs" and find "jup_b1_stalker_1" select it and click "Create"
10) Escape the in-game menu (Topol should be next to you)
11) Go to Hermann and ask him for job (you must load save where the quest is not accepted yet!)
12) Accept job
13) Now talk to Topol
14) Select the second message ending with "... tunnel!"
15) Now you must select the second message which is about "I will be there" (not the message about going to there together!)
16) You will see mission objective change to "meet Topol's squad"
17) Now kill the Topol (he will act as regular stalker due to uncomlete spawn behavior) ((OPTIONAL))
18) You should take psy-block and Lead-Lined Metal Container with you ((OPTIONAL))
19) Now go to the meetpoint (At the meetpoint should not be anybody)
20) Enter the tunnel and kill all 3 zombies (there should be no controller)
21) Use your psy-block ((OPTIONAL))
21) Go through the tunnel avoid electro anomalies and don't shoot the floating one (it's waste of bullets)
22) At the end take the "Altered Insulator" artifact and open the door
23) Place it in your LLMC ((OPTIONAL))
24) Get back to scientists bunker
25) Once you there, open your inventory and takeout Altered Insulator artifact from LLMC
26) Talk to Hermann and complete your quest.
27) Save your game
28) Quit misery
29) In "gamedata" folder delete folders "scripts" and "configs"
30) Now from your folder where you backup folders "scripts" and "configs" move to "gamedata" folder

Now you should have fully functional MISERY with Intermittent psy-emissions mission completed.

And that's it folks! It wasn't that hard. :)

There is already a debug menu spawner. Only have to edit one file, spawn your missing NPC, edit file back. The hardest part in either case is figuring out the right name for the character or anything else you need to spawn. Good job!

I know this, but when I try to spawn him from the debug menu, game crashes. So I took this as final solution that works. Thanks for reply! :)

I'm in the middle of this situation and trying a built in fix. If you finish placing scanners and Topols Crew are all dead, you can be given the task of finding a replacement crew. Supposedly you can hire Mitay & friends or Duty or Freedom if you are friendly with them. I'm going to try Duty first after escorting Strider et al back to Yanov, if not, then go save Mitay and try his friends next. I will keep you posted.

I was friends with duty, so after getting Striders crew on board with Duty, I hired a measurement crew for Hermann from Duty and then got measurement mission from him.

That's right, but this task (replacement crew) is triggered only once. So if you hired the Duty replacement team, then they got Duty team and you can't hire anybody else. That means: You can save Mitay and being rewarded by his friends, but that ends here. The Strider task has nothing to do with the hiring replacement crew. So from my side no problem. :)

They will hire both a research team guard and bunker guard team from you. I hired teams from Duty for both.

The bunker guards are the mercs who jump you in the Jupiter plant; after you presumably kill them, you can hire replacements for Hermann.

Hey so I followed all of these steps and it worked perfectly EXCEPT there is no "jup_b1_stalker_1" in the NPC menu. Any help with this?

If you are trying to spawn Topols Squad vs. hiring a replacement squad for Hermann from whomever you sided with (Duty or Freedom) I think jup_b1_stalker_squad at jup_b1 would do the trick. It includes all 4. The squad descriptions are in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Stalker Call of Pripyat\gamedata\configs\misc if you're using steam.

I can't remember if they need to be spawned at jup_b1 or jup_b41. It's really easier to talk to Hermann and hire replacements. I think you even get a reward.

I've already replaced the Merc guards with my allied faction, but I've never seen any opportunity to hire replacements for Topol's squad. Thus the only option I can think of is to spawn them in.

EDIT: Resolved. Used the default debug menu instead of the special tool and that seems to have worked fine. Thanks for the advice!

If you went in to get the 1st Topol mission and his squad was already dead the dialog for "I can find you a replacement squad" come up. It may not happen if you have already done some of the Topol related missions. Glad you worked it out.

Help, I already accepted the mission but Topol and his crew are dead? Anyway around this? I have no save before it.

Did you try going to tunnel on your own? Get the artifact and return to bunker. See if the above mentioned dialog to find a replacement for Topol's crew is not available. You can hire duty, freedom (whomever you are allied with) , possibly others to do their job.

Once you accept any mission, it is a good idea to handle it and not wait around too long. Stuff happens ;)

Yeah, one problem. I went into the room where I'm supposed to find the artifact but I didn't see it, even after a thorough scan with my eyes. Although it was the room where you're supposed to find it in Vanilla. Did it's spawn location change?


EDIT:

One more thing, the scientists are not asking for the hiring of another crew. Also, I'll just go ahead and tell you how Topol and friends died.


I found just 2 cats (unwounded) in the camp, and there where dead bodies everywhere (it looked like a scene after a battle in a movie) and the only 3-4 survivors were some mercs on the roof. It was a scene to behold.

The NPC's don't realize cats are dangerous in 2.1.1, this is fixed for 2.2. You accepted the mission from Hermann and then went out side and they were dead or accepted it and did a bunch of other stuff first? When is the last save you have when Topol's crew are alive?

I found Topol's crew dead, then went inside and accidentally accepted the mission to go the Psy anomaly. I have no saves from where Topols crew was still alive. Will not doing this quest stop me from completing the actual main story or is this quest vital to progression in the game? The main reason I'm worried is because I wanted to sell some Pseudogiant parts to the scientists but apparently they won't accept trade unless I do this mission for them.

You can trade for them after doing any one of the missions. Do the oasis for the other scientist and trade will open. If all Topol's crew were dead when you first talked to Hermann, I think you should have gotten the option to ask what happened to your crew/guards and say you could find them some. The worst hiccup is when they die between accepting and completing. I have instructions for spawning most of the important characters in my profile comments. It can take a few tries before you figure out which will get the dialogs going right. I know they should pay more for parts than the other traders, but I can rarely be bothered to hump that stuff to them and usually unload it to one of the bar men. Just me being lazy, same with artifacts unless I happen to be there anyway. It will be much easier for 2.2 because Hermann now stands still :)

Thanks for the help man. TBH screw the insulator. I'll just go through rats and zombies to get to the Oasis. (Are there any new mutants in the ventilation complex I should worry about (ex. Snorks, Bloodsuckers, ETC.)?

Found a VERY aggressive Pseudogiant in there that chased me all the way from the main building of the complex back to the scientist's bunker. Luckily he was already wounded by an unlucky group of bandits that wandered into the building. I heard the battle, at least 100 shots were fired and a lot of grenades were thrown.

If anyone is interested on spawning Topol's Squad from the debug console type this:

On "Spawn Squad": jup_b1_stalker_squad

On "Smart Name" : jup_b41

Voila!

There is normally no need to spawn them. The game has a built-in replacement squad. You can be hired by Hermann to find them for him just like you can hire him replacement guards(to replace the mercs). You actually earn more that way.

That never happened to me Jasper. Topol dissapeared and the quest said that I had to find him. No location of him was marked, untill I spawned him.

This is the 3rd time that an NPC dissapears, Noah, Jack the bandit leader and Topol.

Anyway... help me out Jasper, my game crashes when I complete the Intermittent psy emission quest, what can I do?

If they die after getting the quest and before doing it it messes things up. This happens much less for 2.2 because the NPC's now notice cats as a threat instead of just watching them chew their legs off LOL. What does your crash log in the _appdata_ folder say? You can open it with notepad or notepad++ and look down at the bottom after the phrase FATAL ERROR. Only the part after that is usually helpful.

Did you, by any chance, kill the mercs on top of the bunker early (before they jump you in the Jupiter plant? This causes CTD's later.

It's been a while, but you may be able to not spawn the squad and just go to the tunnel and grab the artifact on your own without the dialogues getting messed up.

What is your switch_distance for alife set at?
