Hello from a fellow stalker,

Recently I decided to test a new mod( because the buddy of mine that got me into misery got me into the other mod as well) called Arsenal Overhaul( a great mod, better than Armed Zone imo), which is really nice, but sadly incompatible with Misery. A game with said mod is closer to vanilla than Misery and as such the mercs at the Waste Processing Station do not respawn but I remember they did in Misery. Can anyone help me change my files in order to get them to respawn, since killing people with these new guns is soo fun?

P.S: If you could give ideas how to remove the minimap or tell me what the mod for all subtitles is( I heard all subtitles were enabled only via a mod?), that would be great, too

You should petition Arsenal Overhaul to make his add-on compatible vs. asking us to make Misery Compatible with it ...

If there is a weapon or weapons available in Arsenal Overhaul that you desire, ask TAZ to bring them in.

I am not a coder, so can't help as you ask. The ones we have are busy trying to finish 2.2 and won't have time to make Arsenal Overhaul compatible, sorry.

I'm not asking for a compatibility patch but rather for instructions where to find the file needed to be modified in order to get the mercs to respawn.

It would be like creating the Misery mod all over again reinventing the wheel. It's not just edit one file and wham your golden unfortunately. One of the qualified members of the team may chime in with an answer, it might be a while ;)

Smart terrain files are responsible for respawns. You can find relevant *.ltx files in folder:" ..\gamedata\configs\scripts\zaton\* "
and in "..\gamedata\configs\scripts\zaton\smart\* " folder

I no longer recall exact smart terrain name for WPP building, for proper name you need to turn on debug menu and in game allow to show developer debug too (to show all S_T and squads on all maps). Hover mouse over desired S_T to find out it's name.

For example (I got that one open in my notepad) in file "..\gamedata\configs\scripts\zaton\zat_a23_zombie.ltx" you can find squad spawn section names and AI logic that they use once spawned. File "..\gamedata\configs\scripts\zaton\smart\zat_a23_smart_terrain.ltx" use those squad names to spawn squads on timers.

I no longer recall each detail how S_T works, I have to go trough notes and descriptions provided by others to be able to tell more about it. But it is not too hard to figure out with few trial and errors. Just be carefull, you can't just copy files from Misery to other mod, once you find proper files for WPP, you need to check out squad description files that AO use. Spawn section name might be different, they might use different AI logic and so on. Also, you can't use exact same spawn section for those mercs, you need to use some other similar squads, those quest Mercs are allowed to be spawned only once.

After you kill those mercs at WPP, in Misery they were not spawn again, but various groups of bandits, mercs are spawned and once you reach Pripyat monolith squads are populated there too.

Sorry, don't have much time to give you better info, as for lot of those I need to remind myself about it.

Thanks for the info.

Sadly the mod doesn't seem to use the file you specified, which means I should install misery again, copy the file in the same directory and make it compatible somehow.

It's a kind of letdown misery and AO are not compatible with each other, both are really great.

If AO does not have those files in gamedata folder, that means it use vanilla game packed files inside DB.

Without rest of the files, if you just copy one S_T file, you will most probably cause additional CTDs. And of course, if you alter any of those files you also need to start new game, otherwise, again, a lot of CTDs can be expected.
