Full health, using orange ssp suit with one steel plate + one light kevlar plate, zombie was about 4 meters away firing a lousy probably almost broken pistol. I hit him in the head once with a ump 45 roung but he still keeps shooting and his second shot 100 - 0 me.

I only play ironman which means I will have to start over.

Is there a bug which "miscalculates" damage or do zombies go around carrying AP ammo?

It's just odd when I can take 2, maybe 3 assault rifle shots from mercs(from some distance) but a single zombie manages to do that.

I remember another instance where I was with assaulter wearing bulat suit + steel plate and the second tier sphere helmet (m12 i think). Started fighting some bandits from very far away, dropped 5 of them and used stimpack back to 100% health the last bandit simply fired twice and the second shot killed me on the spot too.

I thought that from that distance and considering I had good gear I would at least take lot of damage + some bleeding but no, insta-dead...

It might behoove you to avoid getting shot rather than rely on being a tank. Critical hits happen and magnify the impact of being hit.

Oh, I do try to avoid being shot at. I managed to headshot the zombie before he fired, but it seems that the common .45 round doesn't have reliable stopping power to drop them. I will use hydroshock from now on.

But by critical hits you mean REAL % chance based?

For example: I got hit in the head which has protection level III, the armor managed to save me but I still take like 40% health damage because of blunt trauma. But if that critical hit rolls and I take like 2.5x more damage then I'm intantly dead?

If that's the case then it's a bit odd... idk

I've seen pseudodogs take almost all my health(60%-70%) in one attack and a lot less in other occasions with the same armor, maybe it's that critical chance kicking in.

Critical hits occur when different bones are struck, magnifying the calculated damage. Just like IRL if you are shot in the thigh bone it is massively worse than if you have a clean through and through missing arteries. In the Zone there is no way you would survive that.

The game simply isn't designed for iron man. There's nothing wrong with that self imposed choice, but we can hardly nerf the rest of the game for other players so you can survive any shot. IDK if it's even possible to code a limitation on the maximum amount of damage you can receive from a critical hit, like if it's a non-critical hit which would cause 50% damage and the multiplier is 2.5x have it limit you to 90% damage. I don't think it would be fun that way either.

9x33 can be pretty mean if you get shot in the neck it seems

[actor_head_damage_tactic]; CLASS IV
bip01_neck = 1.2, 0.55 ; CLASS AIII
bip01_head = 1.45, 1.1 ; CLASS IV
eyelid_1 = 1.35, 0.8 ; CLASS III
eye_left = 1.35, 0.8 ; CLASS III
eye_right = 1.35, 0.8 ; CLASS III
jaw_1 = 1.45, 0.9 ; CLASS III

edit---------

Oh one thing to also mention. In misery the damage you take is largely separated by ammo. A 9x18AP round will do more damage to you than a 5.56x45 non-AP round through armour. I found this out while testing stuff. A single 9x19 AP round from an MP5 could kill a particular stalker but my 5.56x45 rifle non-AP round could not.
