Hey hey! Just got to Yanov and first thing I did was asking people for free weapons ofcourse :P. I was told that theres a hidden weapon including ammo somewhere near the Ash heap anomaly. Well I found a crashed UAV, got ambushed by 2 bloodsuckers, got too close to the anomaly and damaged my coat, cleared the village of zombies, got radiated.. also im hungry. But I have no weapon :(. I did find 3 stashes but none of them containing a weapon.

I googled a bit and found out that there was supposed to be a sniper rifle in this location:

But nothing there either. What have I missed? Where can I find the Assault Rifle mentioned by that guy in Yanov?

Thanks in advance! =)

All known stashes from vanilla game were changed. Plenty of new stash locations were added to game. Very few of stash locations actualy contain any usefull weapon. Those few are well worthy to search and usualy heavy defended with hostile NPC and/or powerfull mutants.

Welcome to Misery, you will need to work hard for good weapon in this mod :).

Yeah I know about that ;). I wasn't expecting to find that sniper rifle, too. But was that hidden assault rifle part of the vanilla game? Was the dialogue just not removed? Or is it part of misery and I did not look hard enough?

edit: now that I'm already here, I might aswell ask this: Is there any way to change the weather? A console command of sorts? Because often when I reload a savegame the weather will be completely different. Some decisions I make actually depend on the weather. It's really odd when I'm out venturing with the sun out, reload because of a fuck up and all of a sudden I'm surrounded by dense fog :/ (as a Sniper I might add).

I think the weapon hints are leftovers. Not sure if from Vanilla or Misery 1.0 as I never played 1.0. The weather is random, much more chance of rain and fog now. there's probably a way to change it, but I don't know how. Someone else might chime in on that subject. At least the hints got you to explore more :D Almost everywhere is worth exploring .. little surprises stashed all over. There are several weapons to be found, the best IMO are in Pripyat. Not sure if the particular weapons found are class dependent or not.

Thanks for the reply. I gave up on the weapon for now. Pretty sure I'm gonna find something soon.

The weather system itself is fine and I think that fog is extremely atmospheric. It's just weird that sometimes when I reload a previous savegame, the weather is not the same it had been when I saved. However the weather will always stay the way it is after the reload (like, a second reload will not result in different weather conditions). So it would be nice if I could change the weather "on the fly" to return it's state to what it was when I saved the game ;).

I agree, it's quite inconvenient when your set up in a perfect hide drawing bead on bad guys hundreds of meters away and you save only to have white-out fog when you reload. Misery ... what can you say? The group of mercs you were about to ambush might be going a different way or be located a hundred meters from their original location too. The weapons referred to in ALL the dialogs do not exist anymore. Easiest first weapon is on top of gas station. You could easily use that on any class until something you prefer is within your budget or you find one to fix up.

Personally I think the Assault Rifle at Ash Heap is referring to the shot down Drone which leads to Strelok's SiG, which is I think by stats alone the best rifle in the game..

however one dude I think trapper is talking about a "Green Dragon" hidden in the east from yanov. This seems kind of specific because green dragon is a Misery Item, but im pretty certain that there is nothing stashed out there, maybe playing as sniper though...?

That stash is now a bottle of beer or something trivial. I forgot to take a screen grab before I cleared it. I actually couldn't even see the item(s) until I got within a meter or two and they popped into view.

I was able to get Strelok's gun, eventhough I can't use it yet because the ammo is too expensive and i need to conserve money to buy a good helmet so I can start the quest from hermann.

Having another problem now though. Can I not travel between zaton and Jupiter by myself? I can't reach the level changers (tried in god mode). Do I really need to pay Pilot 10k everytime I want to change levels?

-edit- huh, apparently the level changer is on the left side of the bridge, near the fence. I spawned directly in Skadovsk though. Is it supposed to be like this? Can't remember how it was in Vanilla, been a long time :). Also how do I get back to Jupiter without paying, because I really can't find the way...

Vanilla didn't have teleport portals. In the field between the iron forest and the place west of there where the lost mercs start is a blurry moving portal that leads you into the section to the left of the iron forest. Lot's of anomalies ... one decent stash and the portal back to Jupiter. It's too inconvenient for me most of the time, after you get the guide the chopper maps it's only 6K to go to Jupiter. You can use 6K worth of ammo fighting off whatever has re-spawned at Iron forest. That and You can load up to max capacity and fast travel with guide without having to eat epinephrine and make your way in very short sprints across the map. The portals are very convenient going back a map, going forward are much less convenient. Going back to Pripyat is a real pain if the spawns are tough. Also, you can only see the portal marker when you are actually on that map. You can't see the Zaton to Jupiter portal marker unless you are on the Zaton map, etc.

Okay that clears things up, thanks.

I always mule as much end game/Pripyat type stuff on towards Yanov as I can when I make a trip using the guide. Stuff like Gauss ammo, repair kits for weapon types I don't use. I save them up to repair found weapons to profitable condition in Pripyat so they are worth humping back to Jupiter/Zaton where I can get more money for them. The kits sell for beans or are so pricey an NPC never has enough cash on them to buy.

I just finished story on my Assaulter. Had about 10-15k on me at the end. However, when I started hauling and selling all the stuff I amassed in Pripyat while doing story quests, I ended up with about 400k. Even had to travel between Jupiter and Pripyat 5 times to haul all back in exoskeleton with titanium supports to increase weight limit. Didn't even bother repairing stuff, just sold them as I found them. End game money, no big deal :D.

I do that first time I go back to Jupiter/Yanov. I usually net enough for my Exo suit and upgrades. Some weapons can be used as repair materials for same weapon, so you can combine a couple 30% condition Nikonovs into one 100% condition and halve the weight and make much more money. Pistols I toss if they can't be repaired to saleable condition with whatever I have at hand.

Mar 23 2015 Anchor

Uh, how do you combine weapons? Only thing I use to repair weapon to 100% condition are those expensive repair kits.

Not all but some of the weapons will be offered as a helper material for combining with a kit. So when you are using a kit on a really trashed weapon, sometimes you can add an extra 20-40% or more to condition by adding a like weapon. It's the best bang you can get for your repair buck. Instead of using one or 2 more expensive repair items the two weapons are combined. I can't remember any specific ones, but I will head to pripyat shortly and will try to make note. Also, at least for now, some repair kits work on more than they have detailed in their text. It's worth trying to use a kit when you have your entire inventory of broken down weapons and materials on you at once. I do this in reach of my stash box. Pistol kits might work on some shotguns or something like that. Some weapons don't have a kit specified to them yet and can use any of them. This will get refined eventually by the team, I'm sure.

Here is an example of combining weapons Dropbox.com You can see I have 3 OTs-14-4A's and by using one 7.62 repair kit, I can select one of the other 3 guns as a repair material so I will get a 50% increase in condition going from 39 to 89%. That's very saleable and for one use of a cheap universal kit or some misc sprays/oils I will have a pristine weapon.
