Crash to desktop - same location in multiple games Thread - MISERY mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat

I played COP completely through using the Assault class without any problem.

I started another game with the Sniper class and got all the way to the school house in Pripyat. Is soon as the medic is freed from the cooler and the game "jumps" back to the base, the game crashes to desktop. I decided that since I was near the end already, I would not worry about it and would just start another game.

So, for the third game, I played the Recon class. I got to the same point in the game and received the same crash. I searched on this forum to see if others experienced this and was not successful. It crashes after both a hard save and a quick save.

Any ideas?

This is a well documented and fixed (for 2.2) bug. The simple workaround is to lower your alife.ltx switch_distance from the default 300 or whatever you are using to 20-50. Talk to the medic, wait through the cut scenes and save. Put your switch distance back where you like it.

A tip for using the search feature on the forums: Search in POSTS for the keywords instead of threads. Medic and fridge or something like that would probably have yielded what you needed. It really should be the default rather than threads.
