Is there any way to make it so cigarettes are somehow flagged as a drug, or otherwise flagged so they don't get dumped from your backpack when you use the quick release system? It doesn't make sense to drop them since they don't weight anything, and they can be used as an antirad.

There are a number of features I just don't use, even though I think they are brilliant. The QRS is one of them. Are your cigarettes in your quick use slot when you drop the pack? I forget how the items are chosen. Cigars and cigarettes are in the drinks category, which is a little weird. Try putting them in the quick use slot and let me know if they still are not retained. If not, I will bring it up with the team.

I actually like the QRS and use it quite a bit, especially earlier in the game before I can get an exo suit (which of course can take a long time). I will go on long looting trips as an Assaulter and hoard massive quantities of items in my inventory that I need to drop when I get into a combat situation so I can maneuver properly. Then I pick back up what I can carry out of it and head back to the base to sell, and make multiple trips between the stash the QRS creates and base as I see fit until I get everything I want out of it and get my QRS item back. I also find it very useful as well in emergency situations if an emission hits and I am too overweight to run to shelter in time, or am unexpectedly attacked and I need to be able to run fast. I don't get why some people say this item is not that useful. I guess it depends on your playstyle, and maybe some people just don't have the patience needed to utilize it properly to get enough benefit from it. Well, I do.

As for the cigarettes, I don't normally use them in my quick use slot, I prefer to have other things there. I do however use the cigarettes a lot, but I just use them directly out of my bag. If you want me to try it as some kind of a test for you to see if it acts different if it is in a quick use slot for some reason, I will, but I don't really see the point of that. The other drugs I carry with me never get dropped in the QRS whether I have them in a quick use slot or not.

I can however see your point that if it is flagged as a food item, then it will get dropped, because I have noticed other food items will do so. But since cigarettes are not actually a food item, why not just change them to be flagged as a drug? It would make more sense logically. Or, if that is a problem for some reason, just make it so food items are not dropped in the QRS. Most food items are not very heavy and it would probably be a better idea to keep them IMO.

Please try it just for scientific purposes ;) If putting the item in your quick slot solves the problem without additional work that's better. I use the new condition note, the tongs, one stimpak, and anabiotics in my quick slots. Anabiotics simply because they are harder to find in my full inventory. In all my 5400+ hours of play I have only been caught by an emission one time. Cigarettes act as a food item by removing hunger; you could make a case either way. The PDA marked stash would probably be more appropriate for using as a interim stash and you could place whatever you choose in it instead of letting the game choose for you.

Ok, I did what you said, and it didn't make any difference. I put a pack of cigarettes (I only had a couple of packs of one brand on me, the Lucky Strikes) in my quick use slot #1 and it still dumped both packs into the QRS stash when I activated it. I didn't think that would make a difference anyway. And since cigarettes are a multi-use item, you would have to keep dragging them back into your quick use slot after every time you used one to continue using them that way, which kind of defeats the purpose.

I prefer to keep in my quick use slots as #1 = bandage, #2 = improvised stimpack, #3 = scientific stimpack, #4 = QRS. And I don't like to change them so I won't get confused which buttons do what. Food, other drugs, and cigarettes I can just use out of my bag with no problem.

As for the intended purpose of the QRS, the Misery guide says it's for emergencies so you can lose encumbrance quickly when you really need to save your life, and that makes sense. Obviously you can use it however you see fit, but there is already another item in the game called a PDA backpack that lets you create an empty stash that you can manually put in whatever you want.

I still think the best idea would be to make it so both food and drugs just stay in your main inventory when you use the QRS instead of getting dropped in there. In Misery food is pretty hard to come by most of the time, so you are not likely going to be amassing large quantities of it on regular looting trips and getting weighed down by it like you do with guns, ammo, and other misc items, and you don't have to carry all that much with you to stay fed even on long trips. My favorite food to carry around when I go out to do work in the Zone is the protein bars which are very lightweight and still give a decent amount of satiation, and that's another thing I have to remember to pull back out of the QRS bag whenever I use it, assuming I have enough time to do that.

Open file "..\gamedata\configs\plugins\itms_manager.ltx" there is section with items that you want to keep in inventory when you use QRS.

You can add any other section name on list for item that you want to keep.
