I'm torn apart between Recon and Assaulter.

I want to be an Assaulter because I heard that Chimeras and Bloodsuckers are hard to kill. + I'd like to be the badass and feared Juggernaut of the Zone.

I want to be Recon because I want to be fast and agile. + I don't take fall dmg as much as Assaulter etc.

I don't like to Snipe. It's boring, imo.

Recon has High proficiency in Handguns and Carbines. Assaulter only has high prof. in Assault Rifles and useless knives..
The other stats don't really matter for me.

Now it's all about guns! Carbines/Smgs vs Assault Rifles! Which ones are better? :d

Assault Rifles and armor vs Carbines and speed.

Bloodsuckers aren't hard to kill (just need good reflexes) and can largely be avoided if you are observant. Chimeras can also mostly be avoided, but once they spot you are very tenacious. They can climb and jump to enormous heights (like halfway up a tower or from the bottom to the top of an entire hillside). Tactics are what will save you and get you through seemingly impossible situations. I would play whatever you think you will enjoy the most. There are some penalties using some weapons/armors, but don't get too wrapped up in it. Personally I would make sure you carry a high capacity shotgun plus your favorite medium range weapon, preferably one with a grenade launcher/silencer. Those hard to kill mutants can be spotted and picked off from a safe distance when you are observant. Artifacts help a lot more if you use the corrected files coming in the next release (you can fine the change log and files now on my page).

in my opinion the difference between assaulter and recon is more in the play style then in the weapons. Most carabines for recon can have scopes and granade launchers installed. However there are fewer of those then assault rifles.

All big mutants like chimeras, pseudogians and also burers are most effectivly killed by rifle grenades. 2 direct hit will take anything down, which is why those get kind of essential at half game or so..otherwise you often have to retreat because you wasted all your ammo.

as an assaulter you can carry much more so you will probably earn your cash by bringing loot to the camp, if its close also fully loaded with all the broken weapons.
you need a lot of calories, but the protection from armor is pretty decent if you look at the available assaulter suits: csa-3, bulat/heavy duty, exo

as recon you travel very light and its seldom good to carry a lot of loot back..you are automatically more camouflaged and harder to detect which makes for a fun play style (doesnt work with muties however)
also you dont need a lot food and your radiation resistance is very high..you eat something with ~300msv and just some smokes will take care of it. also artefacts spawn more often which makes some good money, and the stats are better. However most of the artefacts are not really worth using, since the negative effects are severe even if cancelled out by other artefacts, and the weight is also pretty high...
