Hey! I've got some questions.

1st - Why does the m5-berill suit gets more expensive as you progress through Zaton? It started at around 52K at Owl's shop, then I did some missions, came back to buy it and it was 64K. The last time I checked he was selling it for 71K! It's almost 20K increase...

2nd - I'm using Nikonov 5.45x39 AP rounds on mercs. Sometimes it takes like 5-6 bullets to kill one, sometimes it takies only one(to the chest). Some flinch a lot and some don't even blink whn I shoot them.

Is it because of the caliber/weapon? I'm just lookiing for something more reliable against heavy armoured targets.

Thanks!

Class IV bullets will work fine depending on where your bullets strike. If they strike a class III or lower protected point they will be quite effective, Class IV less so, Class V much less so. Some effects are amplified if you happen to hit a bone or critical skeletal point. That is why sometimes the bodies fly.

As to Armor expense, who have you been killing and what faction have you been favoring when you complete your missions? Lower relations equal higher prices, better relations more favorable prices. I never paid too much attention to which faction affiliation sold which armors/weapons for better prices, but that has some effect too.

I favor the 5.56x45 calibers over the 5.45x39, the heavy 9x39 suck for longer range, but a deadly closer in. Against heavy armors, the class V ammo is ideal. I used to always favor the 9x39 weapons except few take grenade launchers AND have good scopes & the ammo is too heavy to lug around in quantity.

You're right, I always choose to side with the stalkers at the ranger station, because siding with the bandits it's suicidal. You must wait for the meeting to end and pray that none of the 3 heavily armored mercs choose you as their target.

I don't remember if Bear sells m5-berill, I sure hope he lowers the price for me then :)

I'll try the 5.56x45, it's been a long time since I used them. I hope that they are better for killing mercs in overcoat at long distances at least, because the 5.45x39 are somewhat strange in this regard. I understand they would be less effective vs a Exo or CS armor, but sometimes it takes 3-4 hits to drop enemies in overcoat

I assume that no matter what it appears they are wearing, they have anti-bleeding armor enhancing devices on their belts. 5.56 will create a larger sized wound(hole) and cause faster bleeding too. Nothing beats Class V ammo. Body shots are perfectly adequate with class V for all but exo clad enemies. Also, keep in mind NPC armor is always at 100% condition. It does not deteriorate when struck like your does (engine limitation). Each shot is received as if they just got it back from the cleaners.

1) I have never noticed that, for sure Owl gives you better prices if you side with the Bandits and the trafiker of information achievement as well. For that you need to sell 10 bits of information to Owl - besides the strelok letters though. Im not sure if man of balance and diplomat have an affect on owl, on the other traders for sure though. Either way I'd suggest the CSA-3 Armor from Nimble, it has slightly better stats and wound healing as well as one more container slot after upgrades.

2) 5.45x39 AP has piercing value V which is the highest so it should do the work. Do you use Nikonov's 2 shot mode, its very accurate. And quick single shots with other guns? There is a bug making NPC's invincible while they are in the "stagger" animation, so if you hit them then it wont have any affect. 7.62 calibre also works quite well, often the guns using them have higher damage then lower calibre, like the FN FAL series.

5.56x45 & 5.45x39 AP rounds have both piercing value V, the normal rounds of 5.56 has a low pierce but higher tissue damage which makes it very good against mutants. the 5.45x39 normal rounds have same "medium" tissue damage then the AP version, but IIIA pierce which is quite high for the lowest price assault rifle ammo.
As Jasper said 9.39 has very good pierce and tissue damage values but is quite heavy and hard to hit targets over long distances

Bonesetter - You look a touch pale, how about a little injection or two?

The 5.x_AP mm calibers are all Class IV the second best. Only the 7.62 and 12.7 are V rated. I agree on the armor. You can make a save, buy both and fully upgrade to compare apples to apples. Then reload and buy the better for your purposes. In my opinion, an additional slot is almost always better than an alternate upgrade. The right accessory can provide the same or better benefit and you can choose another thing to boost under different circumstances.

Ah, so it IS a bug then. I was wondering wether or not they were invicible when stagerred in some occasions, thanks for confirming that.

It seems that CS armor has a decent advantage over Berill. I find it a bit odd, they are nearly the same price (10k difference if you don't side with bandits) maybe berril could be a bit cheaper or CS more expensive and a bit stronger?

Off-Topic: Where can I buy a mp5 or any high fire rate 9x19 caliber weapon? Killed tons of bandits with my scorpion but none of them had it, and I'm afraid to fight mercs and their one shotting AP ammo at the beginning of the game :(. Never seen it in shops and I don't want nimble to give me a shotgun by accident.

IIRC Nimble's MP5 fires .45's. This and every other engine have limitations. Engine limitations do not constitute bugs. Aim you weapon where their head will be when they stand back up and pull the trigger once when they rise. Dead, and it cost you one more bullet.

The beauty of the xray engine, while it has it's limitations, is that YOU can edit the prices or characteristics of anything you want to please yourself.

I suggest The armoed zone addon, which adds ton of new weapons and worked over graphiks for most guns:
Moddb.com

with taz addon Nimble's mp5 is 9x19 and has a very nice reddot sight. I think jasper is right "original" has .45 and ironsight

You can always safe BEFORE ordering at Nible and sleep 24h to see what you get.
