I understand that a weapon in worse condition has a higher chance to jam, but other than that are there any other benefits to repair your weapon at all? What would be the difference between a 100% condition AKM vs a 30% condition AKM?

Some weapons are less prone to jam and lose accuracy with degraded condition, but most will have degraded performance. You don't have to fix or upgrade anything if you don't want to. Armors are the same way, if you don't maintain them they protect you less.

You definitely don't want your weapon to jam in the middle of the fight, that's probably the biggest reason to keep your weapons in good condition. A 100% condition AKM shouldn't jam at all, but a 30% condition AKM will be jamming like it's Bob Marley.

You should do a nice demonstration video set to Google.com моя български приятел Big Grin!

Weapons are pretty reliable until they get under 80%.

Performance drop gets noticeable around 70%, mostly at long ranges (in Black Road game once I ran around with a ~40% AK-74 for most of Zaton and got by quite well fighting at mid-ranges or closer, and treating it as if it was a bolt-action rifle). With shotguns it seems like the buckshot sprays wider - try comparing a fresh Saiga to a knackered old SPAS-12.

Weapon degradation is linked (directly, as far as I know) to accuracy... You can modify this in the .config files on a weapon-by-weapon basis, along with the dozens and dozens of other characteristics that make the gun-play in this game so satisfying (in the big weapons.ltx file, you can alter characteristics for each ammunition type, as well; one thing I do regardless, because I actually am a VERY experienced shooter, is to correct the values for the suppressors so that they act like they do in the real world and actually slightly improve, rather than reduce, accuracy...and to keep some balance, I increase the range to a bit over halfway between 'stock suppressor value' and 'stock weapon value' as best I can).

The only time it makes sense for suppressed weapons to have reduced performance is with the utilization of subsonic ammunition, such as the 9x39mm heavyweights used by the AS VAL/VSS/etc, and for the .45ACP handguns, as they are inherently subsonic.
Would LOOOOVE to see perhaps an AR-15 variant (feel free to model it after one of my personal weapons, modelers!) that is an SBR (short-barreled rifle, meaning less than 16" long; mine are 8.5 to 10.5" long) with a suppressor on the end (and 10 to 13.5" modular rail fore-grips, TangoDown pistol grip, Vertical or Angled Foregrip, Troy HK-style backup irons, LaRue friction-locking flip-to-side rail-mounted optic ring for EOTech G33 3x flip-to-side magnifier, EOTech EXPS3-0/-3 holographic compact weapon sight, Magpul CTR friction-locking stock, Magpul PMAG Gen3's with window, Giesselle SOCOM match-grade drop-in trigger assembly, etc)

Nice collection! :)

I don't think the UK has that many guns in total...

Are they for sport shooting or "protection"?

Apr 13 2015 Anchor

That's for Americans, guns are like cellphones, anybody can buy them.

Thanks. They're for recreation and obviously if necessary protection, but I will say that as much as I enjoy firearms, the last thing I would want would be to be placed in a situation where I had to even point a weapon at another... There's enough violence in the world, I enjoy the technology and mechanics of it, the engineering, and I like slinging lead at inanimate (or artificially animated) objects :)

I used to run a specialized Class 3/NFA firearms dealer, specializing in bulk sales to law enforcement and military.

(That's actually a genuine Magpul Masada, not the production version aka Remington ACR... And at the far end, that's a genuine SVD 'Dragunov', from Russia, it's not a PLS or knock-off... The two MP5SD's are both SD6's despite one having the older style lower and the other the newer Navy style, and yes those fire selector indicators are real, not just for show... The AR halfway down, with the Magpul ACS stock in tan, is a custom Noveske with a 9.2" cold-hammer-forged polygonal-rifled barrel in .300BLK capped with an AAC suppressor, although the 'furniture' is different, now having: CTR stock with 8-position buffer tube and double-side sling loop plate, Tangodown grip with a pair of extra batteries each for battery-reliant devices, M68 swapped for the EOTech EXPS3 and G33 3x Flip-to-Side magnifier combo using LaRue mounts, MBUS backups replaced with 45* canted backup irons for quick transition without obstructing the electronic sight (and since I was trained to shoot with a canted weapon it makes for near instant transitions), Giesselle SOCOM drop-in match grade trigger, Magpul PMAG G3 Windowed, Magpul AFG v3, SureFire modified LED Weaponlight with upgraded Cree LED's for low-mode of 90lum and high of 650lum as well as a 17lum/ea pair of red LED's for navigation and a strobe mode... I think that's it)

I'll get a picture of a few other of my precious's lol....
- Accuracy International AWSM .338 Lapua Magnum customized (extensive accurizing)
- Russian Firearms
- multiple AK47's, AKM's, AK74/74M's, 'Krinkov's', genuine AKS74U's and PBS-1 suppressors
- RPK, RPK74 (the most accurate non-"SVx" AK-based firearm IME),
- Countless Mosin's mostly Fin in all lengths from carbine to full, SVD Dragunov (a DMR, in fact, not a 'sniper rifle'), SV98's (.300WM), TRG-42 (338LM)
- Saiga 12, Saiga 12K in 14.5"/12.25"/9.5" barrel lengths, VEPR-12's
- Friend may sell me one of the only pairs of 9x39mm weapons in the country (known at least), an AS VAL and VSS Vintorez both but I am debating if the cost is worth it ($65K :O)
- Multiple .50BMG firearms including a few Barrett's
- Unusual caliber weapons... 6.5 Grendel AR that puts down sub-MOA groups at 800yd+, .416Chey via CheyTac "Intervention", H&K HK416 (have different uppers, one each in 10.4", 14.5", and 16" length) and HK417 (12", 18" uppers), H&K UMP45 and MP7A1, FNH P90R and Five-seveN, multiple custom extreme-distance precision rifles, Knight's Armament SR25 and M110, LMT's new British DMR, integrally suppressed SL-8, LaRue OBR's/PredatAR's, a good number of Daniel Defense/LMT/Noveske rifles, custom Remington Remington 700AAC-SD .300BLK (with a 16.25" Krieger CHF polygonal barrel with spiral fluting, Surgeon rifles action and fluted bolt w 1pc titanium bolt handle and integral optics rail (deviation less than 1/10,000th of an inch), custom Carbon-Fiber-Kevlar 100% adjustable stock (comb/length of pull/trigger offset and with modular rail sections able to be mounted in 2"/4"/6" lengths in front on sides or bottom) weighing 60% less than stock, a variety of .300BLK and .308 suppressors (seems to like the GemTech titanium mono-baffle one best), NightForce Glass 4-16x54 FFP polarized, complete custom Ultra Match trigger assembly adjustable in every direction/for break/weight/overtravel.... Firing either 220grain Ultra Match hand-sorted Boat-Tail Hollow-Point subsonic @ 990-1025fps and the report of the weapon is less than the round impacting a plate of AR500, 300m downrange! Need more knock-down and less quiet, you can individually load full power rounds like the 125gr BTHP I use which print sub-MOA @ 500yds easy), I may have some pictures of some of the SVI Infinity's I've had, maybe even the M134 or M2HB that we had at the shop....
