Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

Hey, you can't blame Russia for NATO picking a weird name!

The NATO names refer to the type, not colour.

The SU-27 is codenamed "Flanker", as in the [F] for [FIGHTER]
The TU-160 codename "Blackjack" stands for the [B] for [BOMBER]

look it up on Wikipedia... I believe it has an article on that subject...

This is indeed true - but it doesn't make 'blackjack' any less odd of a name for a bomber, however! As for Fishbed and Frogfoot... well, what can you say?

Some weird NATO codenames for Soviet/Russian aircraft:
MiG-19 Farmer, Su-9 Fishpot, Tu-154 Careless, MiG-17 Fresco

Probably because a tzar bomb ingame would have to be nerfed alot and would end up looking like a nuke bomb. If they were to add something similar to a RL tzar bomb, then once you drop it, you and the enemy can kiss goodbye from that game.

Btw ... nice remake of this unit. I hope more of the russian units/structures will get some lovin as well :) .

The Soviets wanted to create a long range swepped winged bomber with four engines similar to the U.S B-1B. Not as good technology wise but a good bomber overall. The Russian Air Force has only 15 of these in service.

Interestingly, despite being externally visually similar, the two aircraft are completely divergent in role. The B-1B emphasised low observability at the cost of speed, dispensing with intake ramps and utilising radar-absorbent materials to become smaller on radar, meaning it was well-suited for the low-level penetration mission, which it would carry out to dispense nuclear AGM-69 SRAMs as the primary component of the USAF's leg of the nuclear triad. Since the retiring of the SRAM, they've now become the best bomb truck in the USAF, flying at low to medium altitudes and dropping conventional bombs and precision-guided munitions onto select targets.
The Tu-160, however, is conceptually similar to an improved B-1A, retaining the intake ramps and being able to cruise far higher far faster and at much longer range than the B-1B can, which it makes use of as its primary strength. It is designed to carry out more or less just one mission; the launch of Raduga Kh-55 stand-off nuclear cruise missiles. With these weapons having a 3000km range, there was little need to make the 'White Swan' a particularly stealthy craft, though there have been reports that due to its clean design and the liberal application of RAM it is less of a target than you may be forgiven for thinking.

Can its wings sweep and increase speed when it reaches its target, then unsweeps it back and travel to normal rate after dropping its bomb?
(just like in Cold War Crisis)

They don't animate like that, no. As it's travelling low-level at quite low speed it is fairly logical to have wings locked in their outward positions throughout the run anyhow.

A Tsar Bomb would rock this game hehe. But It would need a "Bear" to drop it to make it look cool. 50.5 Megatonnes would be a wee bit much though hehe. Still gives me the chills that they even had something that destructive testing even awhile ago as that.

Will the b1-b in the USA bombing run generals power recieve a touch up as its texture pales in comparison to the enhanced textures of this new tu-160?

The future is always in motion! AFAIK there aren't any official plans but then there rarely are for this sort of thing anyway.

btw back to the name, as far as i see nobody answered - the americans (as they played the main role in nato-observations and spying-technologies) often were the first to discover the newest russian planes. so htey got the right to name it and in order to devalue they gave the russian planes names like fishbed (mig21), fishpot(su9/11), backfire (tu22),... this changed around 1980-90 when bit by bit original/inofficial russian names like fulcrum (mig 29) were overtaken. so nowadays not only the usaf got glorious natonames like eagle (f15), falcon (f16)...

I heard Father Of All Bombs was the strongest non-nuclear weapon.
It was 4 times stronger than MOAB.
The real name is Aviation Thermobaric Bomb of Increased Power.

Description

This bomber means bad news to the enemies of the Federation. Estimated to be numbered in the thousands, these birds of steel can carry the most devastating of payloads across extreme distances. What made them iconic in the war was their ‘Father of All Bombs’ bombing runs. A single Blackjack would fly over enemy occupations and drop a massively powerful explosive many times larger than the ‘Mother of All Bombs’ western counterpart and usually manage to return to base in one piece. Russian officers are quoted saying that everything caught in the blast simply ‘evaporates’.
