Rise of the Reds – or ROTR for short – improves upon the C&C Generals formula while also adding its own distinct elements to it. Most notably, the mod adds two completely new factions, the tank-heavy Russian Federation and the defence-oriented European Continental Alliance. In addition, the three original factions China, USA and GLA have been greatly expanded and redesigned in a variety of ways, with several new units, buildings, powers and abilities to explore and combine in your in-game tactics.

Can I ask why this added? I'm not saying this isn't a great unit (I love it and the leaked voice overs), but normally ti's said why a new unit was added, or am just missing something?

ECA sorely needed a mobile stealth detection unit.

wasn't marks-helicopter meant to be mobile detector?!

Yes but it didn't really work all that well because of how vulnerable airborne units are in later stages of the game.

Thus it was removed from the Marksman and we made a new unit which is far more appropriate for this purpose.

will Marksman get some other ability/purpose instead?

At the moment we simply made it a bit cheaper and changed some stats.

Nothing else is planned for the moment.

The Radar Array was immobile when stealth detection mode was on and the German Shephard died too easily even with the armor on.

IMO the ECA's nightmare in 1.86 would be the jarmen, since he can both take out the marksman and the dog. may be that's why this thing coming. Either way, the bloodhound would be a nightmare for gla infantry

Looks like something between the Fennek and the Pandur, probably for early game scouting and harassing, if fast and relatively cheap enough it can be good to cripple the enemys supply centers.

Good to see the ECA getting some more agressive early gameplay!

It's not that spammable and cheap to build compared to units of its class. Though theyre support units.

Oh, so in case things go bad, they just turn the flag to the side and pretend to be a captured vehicle instead. XD

So is it going to replace a unit? Like that detector array that needs to deploy itself.

From what Hunter said, i don't think it will replace anything (at least not in 1.87), but marksman's detection ability will be removed (at least for 1.87).
Devs please don't hurt me and correct me if i'm wrong.

Just noticed, why does this thing have EU numbers if EU was disbanded, by the way? Shouldn't it have a French flag instead, or something?

It does have a French flag. And I can ensure you those are not French licence plates

Reply Good karma+1 vote

Tleno - - 1,048 comments

That's the problem, those are EU license plates. EU is gone in RotR, with ECA being a purely military union. Back before joining EU many European countries had same design but with national flag instead of EU logo.

this is really hell unit for infantry, its almost unreachable for infantry to get close (hijacker) and to destroy it because of its stealth detection, anti infantry grenade system, chaff dispenser and an automatic cannon that can switch ammo between AP round and canister round. if you can massed this enough, you can kill a lot of infantry's opposed player/computer who really-really massed a lot of infantry

Description

The Bloodhound is a Panhard VBL equipped for scout operations. It utilizes infrared and sonic scanners to detect even the most well-concealed infiltrators and is armed with a 20mm autocannon (compatible with anti-personnel flechette rounds and standard rounds) and anti-personnel fragmentation grenades to eliminate threats. Reasonably well armored versus small arms and artillery fragments, it relies on chaff dispensers to evade anti-tank missiles. Fortunately, the chaff dispensers can also be used to shield heavier targets from missiles, making the Bloodhound a valuable addition to ECA armored divisions.
