I like to help people, which is why every now and then I share certain files and suggestions that help people over certain hurdles. In real life I donate food, coin and materials to Food Banks etc and am a certified First Aider.

Do you have problems with downloadinbg the mod or with installing it?
hello I bought the game from The EA page and the mod rise of the reds dosen t work for me when i launch the game it starts the normal zero hour version. I saw that for the mod to work u need 1.04 version of the game ... where can i downlad it from ?

Any chance you could point me in the right direction of fixing the typical
ROTR error message, this stops me dead and closes game play when it kicks in.
You have encountered a serious error. Serious errors can be caused by many things including viruses, overheated hardware and hardware that does not meet the minimum specifications for the game. Please visit the forms at www.generals.ea.com for for suggested courses of action or consult your manual for Technical Support contact information.
I'm sure this is not the first time you have been asked to resolve this. any help would be greatly appreciated.

First of all sorry for the late reply, I missed these messages here.
Yes. your error looks familiar to me. I suggest you do as following:
1. Clean install zero hour, if you have the first decade you MUST also install generals itself.
2. Now download the fix I shared, you can find it in the files tab when you click on my profile name.
3. Unpack the .rar and paste game.dat and the .exe in the program files spot where you installed generals. make sure to paste the two files IN the zero hour folder there.
4. Now run the game, it will fail to do so.
5. The failure will trigger an error message in my documents> zero hour files. Delete that particular crash message, but keep the zero hour folder in my documents.
6. Paste options.ini in zero hour foler that is in my documents.
7. Edit this options.ini and for resolution plug in your values of your monitor. make sure to leave ONLY 1 space between the width and height numbers. So no other symbols.
8. Save this options.ini (NOT SAVE AS!!!)
9. Now run the game, it should work now. If you wanna edit any settings do so via the options.ini and not via settings in-game.
10. You can also update the game to zero hour 1.04 with the proprietary update files in the fix pack. (only if you dont already have 1.04)
11. Now download and install shockwave in the zero hour folder inside program files. If you prefer to play Rise of the Reds instead of Shockwave, then skip this step and go to step 12. If you prefer shockwave instead of ROTR you can ignore all steps after step 11.
12. Download ROTR 1.85 and install it IN zero hour folder of program files. you can cancel the map installation or the multiplayer installation that follows after if you want to - However I do not recommend to cancel the map part as it offers new battle grounds. If you need info on how to install the map part that follows suit after the mod install itself then go to step 14 to learn more.
13. download ROTR 1.86 and install it IN zero hour folder of program files. you can cancel the map installation or the multiplayer installation that follows after if you want to - However I do not recommend to cancel the map part as it offers new battle grounds. 14. If you do want the ROTR maps as well , which i recommend, then make sure to install the maps in the my documents folder of zero hour. The maps and the options are read by the game from the my documents folder, so that is why.
15. HAVE FUN, it should work now.
Mind you there are 2 zero hour foloders. 1 in program files and the other in my documents!
For uninstalling you must first uninstall ROTR 1.86, then 1.85 and then zero hour as a whole. ROTR does neatly place uninstall files in your program files zero hour folder. So it is very easy to do so.
Try it out and let me know if it worked!
hey, could you help me run rise of the reds? i've placed the .ini inside the proper folder and the other two files inside the game directory but the game just shows me the first screen
You also need to EDIT the .ini file.
go to the resolution line INSIDE .ini and fill in your screen resolution in the format: #### ####
MAke sure to leave 1 space between the two numbers and do not forget to save when done!
