The Empire has fallen and a New Republic is born out of the conflict. But in the ashes of civil war, yet another life stirs...
Originally meant as a custom design for a wealthy crime lord, the Starviper Attack Platform was later put into full-blown production just prior to the Battle of Endor. Striped down export versions were briefly sold to various other factions but Mandal Motors has restricted the design to Mandalorian use only. All exported models are being tracked down and recalled.
One specific criminal faction was not eager to part with their ill-acquired starships when confronted by the Mandalorians directly. This faction, regardless of whatever influence it may have briefly held...has been dealt with.
Hey look it's the "Basilisk" there next to those Starvipers! :)
I think it's the star viper in S-foils position. :p
I think the reference is to the KotOR "Basilisk" :p
Side note... The designer who said he wanted to make the Basilisk look that way because the traditional design was "lame" needs to be fired! Lol
Sarcasm people! Notice the smiley at the end of the comment and the quotations of the word BASILISK!
KOTOR fans should get the humor is this after the big F-You bioware gave us in KOTOR-2 with the Virago being perfectly copied and renamed Basilisk after the design of a beast was already described in great detail KOTOR-1.
Well to be fair, Bioware didn't make KOTORII, Obsidion did. Though it should be noted that, with the restoration pack, KOTORII is just as good as the original for completely different story-based reasons (which I always like in sequels).
that mod? I always thought about dling it but never did.
Yeah, I tried to play through the game first without it, I got close but I couldn't finish it. However with the mod it's surprisingly better in most ways, most stuff you don't even notice too.
Those are my favorite kind of mods. Ones which add so much to the game but integrate so well that you almost forget it's a mod and it just feels...right. Lol.
The guy who made that decision was Chris Avellone, the lead designer for KotOR II. To be fair, he thought pretty much everything about Star Wars was really, really stupid, which is why KotOR II ended up being the giant, glorious middle finger to Star Wars storytelling that it was.
Well than to be fair, he should have had nothing to do with a Star Wars game. Particularly one as ambitious and lore-driven as KoTOR. LOL
I think KotOR II is one of the best Star Wars games in existence precisely because of Avellone's input, so to each their own.
Yeah, the game definitely didn't feel like Star Wars, but it was kinda refreshing because of it, and also a little depressing...
I think everyone can agree Obsidion nailed the story-telling and characters in New Vegas however.
I wouldn't be insulting him in terms of saying he couldn't handle a lore-driven game. This is Chris Avellone, this guy has written for Baldur's Gate, Fallouts, Planescape Torment, and the recently released Pillars of Eternity to name a few. He knows his **** when it comes to story writting.
Right, I mean no disrespect to him as a person. He's definitely been a part of some great projects in his past. Star Wars just wasn't the right fit for him.
Coincidentally, KoTOR II just received an update on Steam today, seems they're adding official support for the restoration mod and adding some stuff to help it work better on modern computers (higher resolution support, etc).
Guess I'll have to open it up again.
I love how you very subtly (or not so subtly) hinted that the Zann Consortium has been dealt with.
Indeed ;)
I thought my method of removing Zann from the timeline was harsh... I do NOT want the wrath of the Mando'ad coming after me.
Yes, meeting a Mando in a dark alley is...well you wouldn't meet them in a dark alley. You'd be dead before you saw them. Lol
You know, given the surprising variety of ship designs in SW's galaxy...This one is outright bizarre looking. Not in a bad way, mind. Doesn't mean it doesn't look bizarre.
Wonder why LucasArts didn't give these the s-foil ability. It would have been better (and I would have used it more) than the buzzdroid ability.
idk in EAW lock x foils isn't really worth much maybe in the starwars universe but in such a game like this is almost worthless at least in my opinion specially since corvettes can just chase em down
Well hopefully you'll like this change I'm making then:
S-foils will be revamped so that they are automatic and not an ability. Any ship with S-foils will be in the 'cruise' position by default and will therefore be a bit faster, etc. Then, when an enemy comes within a certain range, they will automatically deploy to 'attack' position. Once that enemy is destroyed or gets a certain distance away, revert back to 'cruise' again.
Not only is this more correct but it will also prevent the AI from locking into 'cruise' position indefinitely (watching X-wing dogfight with locked S-foils all the time just makes me cringe!) and it will also make them more useful because it removes an element of really pointless micro-managing, freeing the player up to just focus on fleet maneuvers and other strategy.
Actually, this answers a question I had a while ago about automating the s-foils. Battles will probably be a little cooler now.
Also, will the fighters with s-foils have new abilities?
Most likely, yes.
That must be so uncomfortable to pilot.
It is an unconventional design, that's for sure. Still, couldn't be worse than the B-Wing.
Well, the B-Wing doesn't look like a deep sea...thing.
Ironic, since it was designed by the Mon Calimari...
I thought the B-wing was a joint project by Slayn&Korpil; along with Akbar?
Akbar, being a Man Cal. Humor often requires slight stretching of the facts ;)
