The Empire has fallen and a New Republic is born out of the conflict. But in the ashes of civil war, yet another life stirs...
Designed sometime prior to the Battle of Hoth, the MC40 light cruisers were small Mon Calimari designs meant to engage alongside the larger and more iconic ships like the MC80. Their smaller size meant faster speed and better maneuverability but overall, far less firepower. However, the MC40 line had impressive shielding for a ship its size.
The E variant specifically, removes the port-side hangar bay in favor of additional armor plating and ship systems. Indeed this variant of the MC40, while perhaps less capable offensively due to the removal of the hangar, is a hardy defender that can absorb a great deal of fire from smaller ships before shield collapse and hull breach.
Just wondering. Why did you remove the hanger ?
Is this a thing you will be doing for all NR ships ?
But otherwise, Fantastic. This is giving me some ideas of my own .....
Seems like it is a ship designed for tanking, with such a specific role and no hamgar, hence no starfighters, it should make it cheaper and make it a formidable defensive ship alongside other carrier ships.just my thoughts about this.
Its a low tier ship. Having a hangar would have made it OP, I think. Especially considering how strong NR fighters are. However, the CD10 already has a hangar and others will too.
More mon calamari ships? Priceless. Amazing quality as always, can't wait for the MC30, its a ship I really like in terms of design and I am lookimg forward to see what do you do with it.
I like it too and I do have some ideas.
I was looking at an update for a Halo mod, so when I switched tabs to see the update for this, I thought I was looking at a Covenant ship for a second!
It does have a similar profile to the Truth and Reconciliation.
I remember seeing a mc30 miniature with wings that looked like fins, I know you are not a fan of wings on spaceships, but I must say they looked great on it. You could make a variation for it as some kind of "skin", and the variants would spawn randomly, no effect on ship stats, just visuals.
Do you have a screenshot of said ship? I can't find anything like that just running a quick Google search.

Looks like they gave it two more engines as well... Very interesting. I do like the design... I will experiment with a few things.
damn. i'll take 10. looks amazing
Love it !
stunning
It looks a bit flat and brutish to me, not sure if i like this texture style for the mon calamari, it seems to fly nicely with the other units though
The MC40 is pretty flat. One depiction of it is actually not only flat but really looks like a flying brick with a round nose. Even the forward engine cowling is "blocky" on that version... I didn't like that look but it can't be helped that it is just a very flat ship, for a Mon Cal design. Most mods which have some version of this ship reuse an old model that is in fact too bulky and "bubbly". It's all artistic license I guess but I wanted to adopt at least some elements of the original design.
As for the texture itself, I was trying to make a texture that would fit with the overall art style. However, I am open to suggestions if you have them.
I like your model and color, but maybe it looks very "clean" for a mc-40. I was a little boring and change the colour a bit.

I hope you do not mind if I have made these editions of your images. They are only ideas, good or bad but always with the intention of contributing something :)

The second image tone its the best but still too dull. However I still like more the one farseer did, ships seem to be more in tuning with each other, even if they are mon calamari. We are used to see high contrasts and differences between rebel/new republic ships, and hence the lack of contrast and your color suggestion to break uniformity. Imho I would keep that color but make some areas in a different color so it stands out more like most mon calamari ships, which have some grey/brown combination:

Due to most circular and rounded shapes, i thought about a ''camo'' for it, it could work:

So teamcolors do help with this a bit, which are not shown here. However, I do have a "mottled" theme but perhaps I need to turn up the saturation so it's not as subtle.
Looking back at this I noticed that it looks a bit like a generic communication device from almost any Star Wars knock off.
