The Empire has fallen and a New Republic is born out of the conflict. But in the ashes of civil war, yet another life stirs...
"Crimson Command" was the name attributed to a large fleet of Victory-class Star Destroyers that was organized with the mindset that a large fleet of small ships was better than a small fleet of large ones. The name was chosen because of the unusual havod metal alloy used in the armor plating, which has a naturally red or rusty color. The alloy was used as a substitute for the typical doonium alloy plating during supply shortage after the Battle of Endor.
There is little difference in the strength of each metal, doonium alloy is simply far easier to mass produce and therefore cheaper. However, the need to bring the Victory destroyers up to battle-ready status was seen as more important than having the correct or typical colors on the armor plating.
Crimson Command was originally awarded to Zsinj but eventually ended up under control of Admiral Pellaeon.
Whenever the Grand Admiral enters combat in his own flagship, a Crimson Command VSD will also spawn. Their stats are identical to regular VSD ships but they will continually spawn (one at a time) while Pellaeon is alive on the battlefield.
Is there a maximum number of "Crimson Command" that can be deployed with Palleon?
Also will they contribute to the population cap?
There are something close to 100 ships in the Crimson Command fleet... So they will spawn until Pellaeon is defeated, no max. Only one can be spawned at a time though. And no, they do not contribute to pop cap.
So mechanically, they serve as a respawning escort ship for his flagship.
Exactly. Like an honor guard more or less.
So, for lolz (all my comments on these screenshots are pure autism, I know) could the Chimera have an extremely unlikely to fire passive ability/untargetable 'weapon' that emulates a VSD flying out of hyperspace, ramming into an enemy ship, and exploding? Surely the nav computer budgets had to be cut back since the glory days of the Empire.
If the Rebels can fly A-Wings into Super Star Destroyers I don't see why not. I mean there's got to be some crazy Imperial Officer who is like ahh forget it today is a good day to die.
Who needs a Death Star or Sun Crusher when your turbolasers can just shoot capital-size starships?
You made a clowncar that spawns Victories? U wot m8? How does balancing that work, massive cost?
Well it's a hero, he spawns only one at a time and an ISD isn't really easy to hide, so it shouldn't be that big of a problem to seek it out and blow it up. Plus a full space station will spawn way more and nastier stuff.
So I don't really see a balance problem. But it sure makes Pellaeon a priority target.
Bonus point to Mirsh for hitting the nail on the head. Pellaeon is the leader of the Imperial Remnant and a former student of Thrawn. Making him a fearsome enemy and an instant priority target is the point :)
And like Mirsh said, he spawns one Victory at a time only, and the Victory is no different than the standard unit besides color.
I foresee that it could present a problem in singleplayer games. Essentially just keep sending in sacrificial Crimson Command star destroyers till victory.
In player versus player, one could keep the Star Destroyer in a strategic location and weaken/raid the opposition with an near infinite supply of easily disposable and easily replaced Crimson Command star destroyers.
Don't give me ideas lol
Well the spawn time between the death of one Crimson VSD and the spawning of the next is not instant. I will test the duration to get the best balance but it should (and I intended it to) be long enough that a window of opportunity opens up to hit Pellaeon directly.
To be fair if you want to cheese out the AI in singleplayer there are already more than enough ways to do it in the vanilla game.
Wonderful as per usual but a little off the info in the description. They were constructed round about 1-2 ABY Starwars.wikia.com all the info is there :)
Ah yep, I recalled the events incorrectly and attributed the material shortage to post-Endor times, when in fact it was post-Yavin. Thanks for the correction!
Yup, big shortage having just completed the first DS and well under way with the second... and who knows how far along they were with Starkiller base... lol
Well, Starkiller is the new canon. The mod takes place in the old EU...pre-Disney.
Of course, I was just being silly. ;)
stunning
I love your artstyle man ! Keep it up :)
