The model is too low-poly for {HEROIC}Doci to notice.

In all seriousness though: The wings do give this model quite an edge.

If I remember right, it's about 1300 triangles. But it can be more if Doci will notice. Gotta get over 9000 tris...

Glad you (and everyone) are liking the wings. I was skeptical at first but I do think it really looks better with them.

Indeed, the wings are a fantastic addition. Interesting, now that i've seen the the final version, the engine section reminds me of the imperial escort carrier

Yeah, I can kind of see that. I took artistic license on this ship in a few places. I just felt like five engines looked better than three and made sense if it's meant to be a really fast ship.

You managed to reimagine a well known starship, and making it even better, without losing the original essence and even adding a few personal touchs, not everyone is able to pull off things like these, and make it work...hats off for you Farseer

It looks like a Munificent after a diet. Or one that got jelly of all the slim, pretty ships and decided to go ano.

Recusant-class actually ;)

From the Recusant's wiki page:

"The Recusant-class was based on technical schematics stolen from the Mon Calamari by Quarren Separatists."

And again from the MC30's wiki page:

"This design bore heavy resemblance to the Recusant-class light destroyer seen in Revenge of the Sith. It might have been intended to share designers with them before the concept artists went in a different direction."

As always, excellent work.

Will it still have the cluster bombs ability?

I'm debating. I didn't personally like that ability too much.

It seems like the MC-30 is just kinda awkward in that regard. I've personally swapped out abilities on it before, and nothing really seemed to fit. It's a very dedicated ship, intended for one job, and it already does that job very well. Maybe a variant of the Crusader's Point Defense ability.

"The MC-30 swaps half of it's anti-fighter cannons over to a point defense loadout." I'm not sure if it's possible, but it could lower the fire rate on it's defense cannons to simulate some of the cannons being used for point defense. I'm not sure whether that would be a toggle state, (which makes more sense in my opinion.) or a timed ability.

Actually, point defense is a good idea. Rounds the unit out well and helps to compensate for the lack of armor. Good suggestion!

I know this is ridiculous but I have to say it since BSG Deadlock is coming out, I'd love for it to have a switch to flak ability to destroy incoming fighters and torps. But I don't think it fits star wars.

Could be cool but the point defense has to be a beam weapon in EaW. The ability is not structured to use projectiles of any type...only the beam weapon.

I was expecting the wings to be a bit bigger, but this is really a masterpiece. Very unique compared to any other mc30 I have ever seen. Congratulations.

I played with larger wing designs initially, trying to mimick the miniatures you showed me. In the end I just liked the more conservative wings better. Glad you like it though! The wings really were a good suggestion.

Description

An somewhat unusual Mon Calimari design the MC30 does away with many of the organic and aquatic themes of the larger vessels of the same manufacture in favor of a streamlined and stripped-down hull.

This very focused and unencumbered design makes the MC30 extremely fast for a ship of its size but does indeed leave it more vulnerable as armor plating is forgone in favor of that speed. As such, more of the superstructure is exposed than other Mon Calimari ships.

In addition to a modest compliment of defensive laser turrets, the MC30 is most noted for it's proton torpedo tubes that can fire a heavy salvo of torpedoes at surprising intervals. This feature allows it to bombard starships of starbases much larger than itself and inflict great damage, while using it's speed to get away before return fire can be concentrated.

In all, the ship was fielded less than other Mon Cal types but has proven highly effective on the battlefield.
