The Empire has fallen and a New Republic is born out of the conflict. But in the ashes of civil war, yet another life stirs...
Like many ships used by the Rebellion, the Nebulon B was originally designed for use by the Empire but the ships were either commandeered or craftily stolen from Imperial Shipyards for use by the Rebel Alliance. As the Civil War came to a close, the Nebulon began to see very widespread use across the galaxy, no longer being exclusive to Imperial use.
As a mid-size frigate of moderate power, it performs its escort duties adequately but is not usually considered a front-line hard hitter. Instead, it's best used in a support role and indeed has been converted to a medical frigate and fleet tender in many instances.
The New Republic, among other factions, still finds use for this aging design in many of it's fleets. It's deployed most often as a medical ship, tending to pilots and crewmen who find themselves separated from their ships during battle. While the mortality rate for such individuals is quite high, if the Nebulon B can rescue pilots before their magnetic shields deplete and leave them exposed to vacuum, it gives many the chance to "fight another day".
In-game the Nebulon's power to shields will be replaced with the infinitely more useful repair ability, restoring the HP of surrounding ships when activated.
Nice! looks awsome
I've said this before, but I'll say it again. Your texturing looks like it was pulled straight from the pages of a comic book. Really great work as usual.
What can I say? I love comic art. Thanks!
Easily the best nebulon model I've ever seen man
This Nebulon B "Escrot" Frigate looks pretty nice
Thanks, though unfortunately its ablative armor can't withstand the precise shots from a fully armed and operational grammar nazi. Lol
usually grammar nazis are annoying, but that reply is the best possible answer :D
Very cool Model, do you know when we can actually play with it ?
So far, I am still on track to release by the end of the year. With luck, that should be when we can expect this.
A shame that such beautiful ship can be easily split in half. what will it contain on its hangars? A wings? X wings?... It better have some defense against bombers or it wont resist much
Its a support ship...it must be defended, as it doesn't come with hardy defenses of its own. It has no hangar.
I thought it would since its described as; the standard Nebulon-B frigate was armed with twelve turbolasers, twelve laser cannons, and two tractor beam projectors. It was designed to carry twenty-four TIE Series starfighters.
Probably got modified in order to adapt it to a medical frigate, hence why yours is different , right?
The legends universe is notoriously inconsistent in ship size and armament. Many ships in legends are listed as having hangars that can hold x-dozen fighters but are barely bigger than a freighter...etc. Think about how big the Millennium Falcon is compared to a Neb B, for example. At the end of ESB, we can see it is wider than the middle section of a Neb B. yet the Neb B hangar is listed as being somewhere on that skinny middle section. Hardly makes sense to me...
So, I default to movie sizes/armaments where possible. Most sources don't show the Neb B as heavily armed (even the wiki makes it seem much more offensively capable than most sources)
Excellent work, as always. So I have a couple questions... Will the Remnant and Mandalorians get mobile repair units in space as well? And will the Nebulon-B and their possible counterparts from the other factions simply restore the HPs of damaged hardpoints, or also repair fully destroyed hardpoints? Again, amazing work you're doing, you must be proud.
So the repair is simply a means to symbolically simulate the medical frigate role but it's not actually a full on repair vessel. So, fully destroyed hardpoints will remain as such. The other factions will not have am equivalent vessel. The factions are themed as such: NR is defensive, Mandos are balanced, Empire is offensive or "rush".
stunning
