although it looks totaly badass, making a railgun artillery isnt going to look very cool if its projectile doesnt get very far from the barrel before it archs. its still an awesome gun but can someone please give me a reason other than "it looks cool" because the king kriptors railguns would suffice as artillery if they were pointed upward. i mean first you got the uef atlas which has railguns which hopefully have long ish range in comparison to the rest of the guns
hes saying its a ball of energy, and plasma, both in several games and irl is simply a ball of lightning, or energy. if this is not what this fires, please explain it to me so i can stop misjudging this thing(if i am)
anything that fires a projectile made up of energy is a plasma cannon. the type of damage it does is irrelevant, if it shoots a ball of energy, its generally considered a plasma cannon. it could shoot a ball of energy and have the impact effect explode with teddy bears, its still a plasma cannon, and in this case, having an explosion of lightning would make it even more plasma cannony cuz the ball of lightning exploding into a storm of lightning, y know. its a plasma cannon. how is a ball of energy not a ball of plasma?
Your science is flawed sir, there's far more to it than just energy. Go look it up. You're probably correct in that this would be some form of plasma, but plasma is far more than just energy.
plasma also would not arch but this would have to be a rail gun a regular shell would lose power over the barrel and plasma would shoot and dissipate into space a rail gun is the only "logical" option left...
plasma in supcom arcs. in fact, almost all the weapons in supcom fire some form of plasma. all the aeon units fire lasers or plasma.
all the cybran artillery fires plasma. even the mavor from fa is a plasma cannon if you read the wiki. even the tiny little uef t1 point defense turret FROM FA is a plasma cannon. so technically, supcom 2's tech has devolved. which shows that square enix basically only took the idea of supcom. they didnt even look into the types of damage they did. in supcom 2, many of the uef units fire shells/bullets, yet in the first supcom, even the uef t1 point defense fired plasma.
so TECHNICALLY, tech has devolved quite a bit in comparison to the original supcom. if this is fires a ball of energry, really the only difference betwen it and the vanilla mavor is he size and shape of the gun, and has bigger splash damage.
also, overrated, it would be no different than the cybran artillery if its explosion would be throwing bolts of lightning crawling everywhere. unless you mean the affect lingers like radiation.
wait so like the ion storm from chickens in FA??? that would be neat but i still like the mini nukes or maby new mavor can go through small shields just an idea.
that would be cool if all factions got a bit of that tech in their own way and not just the scummy aeon
I'm absolutely loving the designs for this, but...why are so many things being given the same exact names as their SupCom1 incarnations, just with a "Mark insert-number-here" at the end? Wouldn't a lot of these simply be renamed, especially if their role isn't the same as the original? Now I know the Mavor's gonna have the same exact role, so I can live with this having the same name, but still, can't it have a different name? Like Havok, for example.
I mean, look at the way planes (for example) are named in real life. Yeah, some of them have basically the same names (Hornet, Super Hornet, etc), but what about planes like the F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning? They look similar ( 0.tqn.comUpload.wikimedia.org(Noise_reduced).jpg ) but they still don't have the same name.
it is cool to continue a units legacy by calling the unit with the same role the same name as in previous games, but it was nice to only have one monkeylord. yeah, its technically a monkleylord mk II, but it was nice to only have one mavor, one monkeylord, one fatboy, one colossus, one aegis, one soul ripper, one persy. a great way to make the mod stand out would be to give its units names that are independent of supcom 1 and 2. now that this guy mentions it, it feels like the mod units are piggy backing off originals. lets let the originals have their own names and give the revamped units their own names?
i mean hell well always feel that the revamped units will simply be upgrades, but why not give the upgrades their own names instead of calling them mk I or mk II? calling them mark insert number here feels vanilla.
Some units are based off the same idea which is why they carry the same name, others that are new ideas have there own, This mavor can use two weapons one being the one from FA.
hah. i read the description, unzipping sound, and it fits. now i feel like your coming to some super cool building carrying a huge duffel bag, you use the elevator to get to the top floor walk into this room where theres a long table with a bunch of ppl in expensive suits sitting in the chairs. you walk up to the table, (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ and it flies out the window and you unzip the duffel bag and whip out a small version of this and ther all like zOMG
This is so good I want to marry it.

Some people where talking about this as being a railgun but it is not, This will shot a energy ball artillery nuke.
oooooh so its a plasma cannon
no

Your forgetting the name Experimental :-), This wont be any normal type of projectile on impact it will be more like a lighting storm.

Could be a scale solution.
Make it small enough with the rest of the stuff, and it'll like more fitting to the map sizes.
it looks like a railgun
No it looks like any type of electrically powered gun.
Can I just mention how good you guys have gotten at texturing since your early models? Because this is some top-notch stuff here.
thanks dude
The model and textures that all avtius12 and i also think this unit probably is one of the best textured units in the game.
Will this baby have any special abilities or just a normal artillery?
It may do.

hmmm that is an interesting query.
