An expansion/overhaul mod of epic proportions, with entirely rebalanced gameplay, expanded factions, new gametypes, graphical overhauls, and five new factions; stealth-based Confederate Revolutionaries, tower defense-inspired Atomic Kingdom of China, economy-focused Mediterranean Syndicate, DotA-esque Order of the Talon and spammy Electrical Protectorate.

On the epic April 17th cast, the Paradox Team mentioned the Spanish Civil War and said they would make a Spanish Civil War thread for.. some reason, but they didn't, so I did.

So my suggestion is that Spain is in the Allies under Franco, because he won with the help of the non-communists and he is liked for not being a communist... at least he was until the Allies became more and more quasi-socialist. Now he could be questioned quite a lot more.

This thread can also be used for discussing Allied (European!) politics in general, I guess. In a historic sense, that is. Let's not argue about what's right, only what happened.

I think not, the allies really ain't the anti commies like the US was. In the sense "our enemies enemy are our friend" like they supported military regims in nicaragua, who was anti commies.

Well, in the 30's when Franco fought the Republicans they probably were, at least a bit. Since World War II they've probably pressed Franco to make reforms though, maybe even step aside.

Well, as I said, everything I know about the Spanish Civil War begins and ends with Pan's Labyrinth, but here's a thought; the Allied Nations told Franco to not be a dick, or they'd withdraw their support against the communists, which of course means the Soviet Union would invade. Franco shapes up.

One of the requirements for entry into the Allied Nations is some form of democratic institution. Franco may have hated/been scared of communists more than he desired absolute power. That's all that's nessesary.

What he says.

On that note though... how do the governments of Syndicate-dominated Allied nations look like? Are the elections rigged or are the politicians just appointed/watched over by the Syndicate?

They are insanely corrupt is all. Neopotism and bribes and whatnot.

Huh, I wonder if the Syndicate is sizing up South Vietnam after the war ends...
