An expansion/overhaul mod of epic proportions, with entirely rebalanced gameplay, expanded factions, new gametypes, graphical overhauls, and five new factions; stealth-based Confederate Revolutionaries, tower defense-inspired Atomic Kingdom of China, economy-focused Mediterranean Syndicate, DotA-esque Order of the Talon and spammy Electrical Protectorate.

Okay, this is the thread where you all can discuss the Electrical Protectorate, where theories, no matter how crazy, should go. -Posts should be either about the faction in gameplay or backstory, or they should be criticism of other posts (no flaming). Basically, stay on topic and stay nice. Theorists, START YOUR ENGINES! HINT #1: The base of an Electrical Protectorate army contains a single, somewhat-stable black hole. Keeping it stable is an important thing to think about for an EP commander... and messing it up is important for their opponents. The black hole is somewhat of a "power-parallel." If the black hole goes out, the base powers down. HINT #2: The Electrical Protectorate tier system is based on Tech Buildings located in the support structure bar. Each tech building handles a handful, or sometimes even a single, unit that is built somewhere else. As an EP commander, you have to take care not to harm, or, through inaction, let harm come to these tech buildings - if one is destroyed, you will be prevented from building the unit(s) it governs until it is rebuilt. HINT #3: The EP have a large number of special non-combat units called "Weapon Modules". These slow, floating units have no direct combat function, but by garrisoning them inside combat vehicles, it works like the Multigunner IVF, outfitting the vehicle with a specialized version of the modules weapons which changes depending on the vehicle's role. HINT #4: The EP fighting style is one of offensive attrition. To put things in perspective, China uses defensive attrition; that is, they take ground gradually and secure it so the enemy can't take it back. The Electrical Protectorate, on the other hand, uses massive numbers to constantly smash whatever the enemy has available to them - they have to make sure the enemy doesn't get a good-sized army going because they have no defensive emplacements. They run on pure momentum, and they're designed to fight through an attacking army and push right past to the enemy base. An EP army is composed of a lot of cheap units, most of which are expected to die, but that will do their share of damage before kicking the bucket. Once most of the damage is done, one of their high-tier, massive units will march in unopposed to finish the job, and if that is allowed to happen, then resistance is futile. HINT #5: The EP infantry are not built from the barracks - instead, the barracks constructs Infantry Deployers. These deployers are your source for the infantry themselves: for a small fee (VERY small, like in the area of $25 for the cheapest unit) a guy will pop out and be free to do your dirty work. The cooldown for this will be either miniscule or nothing, so you can get an entire army of footmen in seconds. It's entirely possible, too, that the infantry will die on their own over time or after moving a certain distance away from the deployer. Edited by: Kerensky287 |

they are man eating seals from mars nuff said |

I'm gonna go ahead and say that they are not man-eating seals from mars. They may, however, be man-eating, seals, OR from mars, or a combination of two. They just aren't all three. Or maybe they're none. |

um... so how will their army mostly look like? --

Can't tell you much beyond a nice combination of old school sci-fi and modern futurism. |
Feb 5 2009 Anchor | ||
... Scrins!!! Well, this hind say the only thing: they will had a large black hole in their base! So if it will be powerplant, cc or entire base is only a speculation. |
Feb 5 2009 Anchor | |
I can confirm right now they are not the Scrin in any way, shape or form. |

Huh. I guess we WILL outright deny some theories. I underestimated you guys and your creativity. Edited by: Kerensky287 |

So can you say this faction will be only HUMAN faction? Or is it also "high top secret" information which will totally ruin our surprise? |
Feb 6 2009 Anchor | |
We never said the EP were human. Then again, we never said they weren't. But as for top secret info... that's what hints are for! |

Explain it because I dont understand it... this means that they will had builded "entire" base from beginning or what? |
Feb 6 2009 Anchor | |
No, it means that you will have to build special structures in order to advance your technology level and build higher-tier units. These buildings function only to advance your tier level. |
Feb 6 2009 Anchor | |
You still need to build a barracks or whatever, but instead of doing, say, Dojo upgrade or Heightened Clearance to access the cool units, you build the Tech Building that covers that specific unit. So say I wanted to build the EP commando (not telling you about him/her/it yet), I would build the infantry construction facility and then build the Commando's tech building. If my enemy wanted to STOP me from making a commando, they just need to make sure I don't have that building anywhere on the map. |
Feb 6 2009 Anchor | ||
so does the EP have the most buildings? --
Feb 6 2009 Anchor | |
Depending on how broadly you define building... possibly. |
Feb 7 2009 Anchor | ||
please make China have the most Buildings --
Feb 7 2009 Anchor | |
Unfortuantely, concerns about balance somewhat dampen that option. In addition, why would you want the most buildings? It would just mean you'd have to spend the most money before you could get anything of the really good units. |

Why do you want China to be better than the other teams so badly? I mean, keep in mind, they've already got far and above the best superweapon (that being a friggin' NUKE, which we promise will be restored to its former glory for this mod), they've got crazy defenses, and they've got very powerful weapons. They don't NEED any more buffs. |
Feb 7 2009 Anchor | ||
ok, thx for this... so, in this EP is slowest tech-advancement faction in mod... there must be a reason for it... |
Feb 7 2009 Anchor | ||
I want China to have most buildings beacuase I love buildings and be at least some what better than the other factions is beacuase China's my home country but I live in Canada right now. --

A team of game designers can't make one faction better than the others just because of favouritism. Most of the main mod team is from Canada, but if we had a Canadian faction, we wouldn't give it massive advantages over the others - that's just poor form. We're going to do our best to keep every faction as balanced as possible, and that means that China won't be "some what better than the other factions". What I CAN promise you is that if China is found to be underpowered upon release, we'll beef it the hell up until it's up to par. So you can at least feel happy that they'll be able to stand up to the other guys. |

Just at least make zchina at least have just one more building than the second faction with most buildings [Confederate Revolutionaries, Electrical Protectorate etc.] --
Feb 9 2009 Anchor | ||
I agree with you. You could want one additional building (dont know why you want it), but its all up to the mod team. For example I am Czech and did I ever asked for a one Czech unit for Allies or Soviets? |
Feb 9 2009 Anchor | ||
um well yea but would the mod team mind to just add one additional building to China? --

any ideas? because they had all what is neccesery, if I am right |
