The Intern's Story, is a game set in the classic Call of Cthulhu setting of 1920s New England as described by the imagination of H.P. Lovecraft.
The third chapter of the period story proposes to build a great looking set that is a fitting place to finalise the story from the fist two episodes that were built by myself with some excellent input from a small group of talented individuals.

A new project

News 1 comment

Hello friends, it's been a while and I thought that you might like to know that I have been working on a new Cthulhu Mythos project and have set up an IndieDb site for it here.
The Bridgegate Mysteries is an attempt to create an online board-game where investigators search for clues at locations in and around the town of Bridgegate, in an attempt to reveal and ultimately stop, a random Mythos threat.
If this tickles your fancy and you would like to know more, pop over and say hi.
As always your questions and feedback are welcomed.

Just finished replaying through TIS Redux and TIS 3. It's just as charming, atmospheric and uniquely well made as when first released. Like earlier playthroughs I make sure to spend a lot of time wandering the sanitorium in TIS3 and marvelling at all the little early 20th century details included.
The automobile out front with the Lovecraft license plate, the tunes playing on the radio, the pamphlets and posters on the notice boards. It really helped to sell the time period and environment. Full of character. Your interpretation of the Elder Thing's surviving ruins and city is masterfully done for Source. Feels ancient, ominous and properly alien.
A nice detail showing the Elder Thing statues are without their heads, possibly to signify the dethronement of their civilisation at the hands of their shoggoth slaves? The soundtrack supplied by Allicorn really helps to compliment the level design and tone, too. Props for that!
The mythos name drops and references are fun to notice too. Mrs Whately is a patient, the West serum, Sebastian Marsh of Innsmouth supplying weapons. Probably others I missed! This time I picked up on Delta's designation being a nod to Delta Green, the rpg games. Very nice.
Despite the more recent populatrity, Lovecraft is still relatively niche in mods. They're rare, and good ones even rarer. But of the few that do exist, this one stands tall. It achieves so much that other games fail to capture.
Excellent work again.
Unsure where or what you're up to now Quinjet, but I wish you well. Unsure if you'll ever make new story set in the mythos, or return to modding at all! But thanks for the great trilogy you gave us!

There really needs to be a fix for TIS Redux. I really want to experience it.

It's really strange that a fix for it has never surfaced despite how old it is.

Loved the first two parts but for some reason part three is giving me so much grief, for Bee two! The first time i played i found a gun but the several other times i failed to find it and even got stuck in the library, locked in!Is that a bug? I had the gun when that happened.
If I can somehow avoid being beaten to death or monsterised I will write a review.
Graphics and sound are great by the way and that facility is pretty creepy and so many rooms and, well weirdness!

This sounds a bit odd for sure.
When you say you 'Found' a gun, was this after the scene in Bee's cell? This is when Dee, unholsters his pistol. There are no weapons to be found lying around (I hope).
Regarding getting locked in the library/Museum, following the above scene. You are correct. I have just played through this part and you can get locked in here if you have not already been to this location. This is an error an my part and I apologise. The doors should be locked after the the scene in Bee's cell to deny you entry and it seems I have removed the entity that does this when I 'refined' the gun spawn process. Doh!!!
I suggest as a workaround, that you use the auto save/quick save for this level and go and experience the museum weirdness before going up to the third floor. You will get locked in again but a new door will open for you.
My apologies trapping you in the museum, this is going on my new bug fix list.

I just finished Part 3 and I have to say, it was EXCEPTIONAL. The mapping was both expansive and exquisitely detailed, the storytelling was excellent, and the gameplay gripping. What really struck me was how invested I got in the characters B, D, and S. Rhodes, which were very well-developed and made the plot engrossing. I haven't seen a mod with this level of quality, or even a game with this degree of investment, in a very long time. Thank you very much for putting so much time and effort into this trilogy, it's produced something amazing!

I'm only sad to see that the Intern's Story is finally concluded. Is there any chance that you'll be creating any more content in the future?

The mapping and story did get rather expansive and I definitely got a bit carried away trying to tie up those vague hints I had dropped about the Mythos elements. It was great fun to do it this way though. Considering that TIS was never supposed to be anything more than a single short mod, I'm really pleased that I was pushed to expand the story because I've learned so much in the process.
Will Bee, Dee and the Stranger have more Mythos encounters? Well, Delta seems to have them stored for some future use but I'm not sure what it has in mind (wink) but I have no plans for them at the moment.

I'm really, really pleased you got such a great kick out of the final episode. It means a lot to get such good feedback. Thanks for posting your thoughts and I hope your Finals went well.

Just finished Part 3, and wow, you went above and beyond with part 3. Much better than 1 and 2, imo. My only gripe with it is that some enemies are such bullet sponges. Apart from that, nice conclusion!

The three parts definitely improve over each episode, showing that practice makes you better. The cultists are quite tough and for the story, I'm putting it down to their altered nature and special clothing. The truth is that they were modified Barney npc'c and these came with improved health stats but the ability to use items and sounds that a modified Combine lacked.

Really glad you have enjoyed the final episode and thanks for hanging in for so long.
