PDS is a simulation-oriented, gameplay improvement total conversion for Homeworld 2.
PDS halted development at "First Era" stage, V7.x for the past year or so due to various reasons. Regardless, we experimented with many "newtonian based" physics models that ran into Homeworld 2's innate engine limitations.
The result of that relentless experimentation was a lot of our veteran supporters leaving for greener pastures... but today we are proud to announce the integration of experimental PDS concepts into mainstream, tried and true First Era gameplay.
We might be restarting development this December, tell us what you'd like to see!

Things had worked out very well in the realm of RL - and PDS somehow, is still rather alive. Why not make further improvements to make? There's a lot of untapped potential... in ship design and gameplay in general. As usual, screw the naysayers :)
V12 was skipped - not a bad thing; it'll be a waste of time doing another semi-Newtonian physics experiment with little gameplay value.
So we'll head for V13. Many things will change including the tried and true shiplist. It's time once again to conduct another phase of natural selection. Lean, mean warships like LiirHra would soldier on to the next era of space warfare. Anything that tries to be a one-man army, or converts a double hull shipyard into a battle station probably gets killed by the PDS equivalent of self-terminally-guided, explosively forged depleted uranium slugs on a transorbital trajectory a million kilometres away.
That's the reality of space warfare. Who sees first, kills first.
And it'll be a challenge indeed to make that happen within the confines of HW2. Without any 3D modelling or scripting. You want to do that, earn real money doing it. It's simply not necessary, given the fact we can simulate the desired effects without much effort. All it takes is the right mind to plan, build, optimise. Rinse and repeat till we have another V7.3 scale effort.
At this point I'm not interested in knowing whether this vision for V13 would succeed. It either goes forward and gains victory, or it doesn't start at all. Things are very simple in the realm of PDS...
We humans with our limited lifespans can't take everything into account. The unimportant, illogical, or unnecessary is simply discarded using the skill of selective listening.

Hi there. i got the same probleme lieke vovasano
when i try this -> -overrideBigFile it gives me this the name ...bin\release\homeworld2.exe -overrideBigFile is is an invaild and all that crud about be sure that u typed the direction correctly and thats it i dont' know what to do.
I already have ver. 1.1 and i installed some other mod like TFS and Warlord which work without a problem.

How do i install the update exactly. The readme doesn't really tell me were to put it. Please help.
This mod isn't even worth downloading. I installed the 11 version and yet there's nothing to be impressed with. Why the hell is there such a low unit count? Fighters? 14? Max? Seriously? There's also no sound despite the fact that I had the audio set way high. Ships are decent but all I got was a soundless low unit count mod that didn't impress me. Pass.
Does this mod play on Vista 32-bit?

I'd love to see this mod come back to it's natural ways of the version 7 era, That was really the prime version of PDS. Not saying 11 is bad or anything. But the slugfest and overall longer and cooler battles of 7 took my heart with a storm.
well, av finally figured out the problem. the zip file unzips with 1 single error. a "bad crc" file, or sum such. anyway, the .hod file forf the vaygr western battle barge was corrupt, and therefore didnt create properly. wen a deleted the foder 4 that ship, and deleted the ship from the scripts the mod worked perfectly fine. granted av had 2 delete a ship, but at least its working. is this a common fault? or just a random glitch on my part.
can sum1 help me. av got pds v11 beta, and av extracted it, placed it in the homeworld 2 folder and everything, but sumthings rong. it loads rite up til astart a level (campaign or skirmish) and reaches "universe", then promptly shuts hw2 down, with no explanation. is it the other mods a have installed, or have a installed it rong (or perhaps am in need of an update). wot shud a do?
ok, av tried installing it with no other mods involved, no other files apart from the .big files, so a must assume it is ma low spec computer.
I'd love to see a mod that can allow you to mod only one race at a time, then go through the story, or vs the PC, as the one race with the modded ships. Is something like that possible?
