Greetings friends, fans & family! We here at NMRiH are proud to bring you version 1.04 of No More Room in Hell. We have put a lot of work into this patch and hope you all enjoy it. We expected this to be a quick patch but we just kept finding so many small things to improve upon this time around we wanted to make sure we got it right. It has really turned into a big project if you just take a look at our changelog in the post after the jump.

It has really turned into a big project if you just take a look at our changelog below.

We have new things for all to enjoy! Like survival? Well we have a new community map just for that. We've included the map in our official build because we liked it so much, it's called nms_isolated created by Lou Saffire. Hate high pings? Our lead programmer ssba has vastly improved network performance when it comes to npcs on a server. Linux server owner? Thanks to a generous donation of a server by we have been able to work out the kinks in our Linux server files. Same goes for who as always provides us with excellent official public and private windows testing servers.

I'm gonna give it a go soon as well! I haven't yet had the chance to give survival a real go, but it looks pretty awesome. If I enoy it enough, I might convert my L4D2 survival map "Hell House 2" into a survival map for NMRIH ;)

I love this mod. Chinatown is my favorite map, but Isolated could be good, if it was possible to determine where which zone is. Spray some letters on the wall and ground...

Press C and you will see a compass that shows you where the objectives are (nmo maps) and where the zones are (nms maps).

Hey cool, I just realized it is raining in your picture. I'm not going mad - it's just technology beyond my understanding ^^

What is this a GIF? Or how to do this?

Also, I am surprised you are not recruting animators, since I find animations to be the part that's most lacking in the current game. More props don't seem that urgent like fixing and improving animations.

It's a gif. Making gifs is a bit of a hobby of mine. I've put a few of them in game if you've ever been to the broadway theater.

Good animators are basically impossible to recruit, especially character animators. To be honest we have kind of given up looking for a reliable one for now. We want more prop artists because it is only me who is doing them right now and with our new maps in the works there is too much for just me to work on.

After watching the videos of this I had to install this mod. But go dissapointed, very stiff control and animations. Didn't feel like I had total control of shooting and melee fighting.
I love the aim down the cross system but it didn't feel right. And some zombied was way difficult to kill.
And if you gonna have many zombies, don't make fast ones that can suddenly charge at you.
If you want to pay homage to Romero's zombie flick don't have RUNNING ZOMBIES!!! Zombies are supposed to be slow and dumb

The running zombies are part of our fiction. People who have freshly turned move with great speed and power before rig and lactic acid buildup prevent speedy locomotion. It's biology and we put research in to it for it to try and make sense unlike most zombie games :)

as for the animations I'm sorry to hear that you find them stiff and difficult to control. We don't normally hear that complaint, but we will work to address it.

Zombies are easy to kill, you just have to hit them in the right place ;)

SinKing Apr 18 2012, 4:49pm says:

Yeah man, I didn't want to talk it down. This is, hands down, the best zombiemod available. It's unique and different from everthing I played.

Getting better animations would just help sell the mood a bit more. I know how difficult it is to find and keep reliable animators. However, NMRIH isn't just some small mod. A professional animator might get interested in doing some pro bono work. On the other hand, professionals hate doing pro bono work, because it makes them look less professional...

I guess you have to find someone who loves the mod and can see the good in helping it. I'm sure there'll be solutions found. It's not like it'd improve the gameplay, just the experience.

As a professional developer (in my real-life job) it isn't that pros don't want to do Mod work because it makes them look less pro (quite the contrary, it helps them build a reputation) most people just don't like doing work, outside of work. Can you blame them? For me it is my career and my hobby but for most people in the game industry it has just become their JOB, and not something they want to continue doing at home on their free time.

As Maxx has put it, it's not that we don't want to work on mods and in most cases it's a good chance to work on project we're interested in. For many that do work on mods it may be short lived once they realize that well... they miss their families trying to handle multiple games and knowing one isn't paying the bills but the team leads are still putting on pressure because they have to. Then there are professionals who are very limited to a specific job due to a number of reasons. I'd personally prefer an enthusiastic and motivated student with talent over an industry professional for my mod. Nice work NMRiH team. Game is looking quite interesting and I love where the mod is going.
