I think he was going to be the person you meet on the Train in the beginning, who would give you a mask.

In the original story line, you opened up in a green meadow overlooking C17, but then GMan walked up to you and the landscape transformed into the world it was now, and he ported you onto a train (the train you start on). In the original story line, the Combine were altering the environment to suit their needs, making it poisonous to humans without a gas mask. It was a much dirtier, more alien environment than they settled on in the final product.

He never appered in the game itself, but there was a model of him in the leak. A very crappy one at that.
His head was in the final game as Male 05. (And doesn't look like this at all)
Not true. He was never featured in the retail Half-Life 2. The head was reused for Counter-Strike Source as one of the hostages.
Yes but that head is male_05 in CS:S, Samuels head was never reused in any Source game. However Cohrt was in CS:S.
you can see him in eli's base he is walking in the backgound behind a fence so he is still in the game
I don't think so. He is the "cheap_male" or something like that. That model was used in HL2 for far spots (like the one you've just said). Indeed that model is lowpoly, it has no eyes, no facial animations, just walking animations I think.
Yeah it's called "cheaple" in GMod you're right he doesn't ever make an appearance.

His head looks really colorful. Is that just from the renderer?

oh god. i have liked all you models so far except this. it just looks ugly. hopefully it will look better when finished. i dont know why u didnt just edit the original head like with the workers
I didn't edit the head on the workers. And this isn't my model, it's Red_Katana's, I only skinned it.

The lack of definition in the upper eyelids and the nostril...*flaps?* is the only thing that bothers me. Other than that it's fine.
it does not look like the original and he does not look Asian or whatever. i think its just ugly overall especially compared 2 your other models and i think just plain improving the original model would have been fine
First of all, the original model is a cluster ****, it's not salvageable and it'd be impossible to improve on it. Second, this is not my model for the last time, I had nothing to do with the making of the mesh, all I did was skin it. Third, You're being vague, he couldn't be more Asian if Red gave him buck teeth, a straw hat and made him TAWK RIKE DEESH, at which point we've gone from simply Asian to flat out stereotype. I simply don't understand what redeemable features you see in the original model.

male_cheap as far as iv'e read somewhere was supposed to bear resembelance to David Blaine a Street Magician as some sort of easteregg...i think as he can be seen in a Half-Life 2 easteregg/glitch...eugh thing! where he levitates round a cornor in Black mesa East which was one of his tricks.

Samuel was on the train on the begining when you see the gargantua atackin gthe train which then the train falls on top of it killing it Samuel tells you a bit of his storry and gives you a Gas Mask he Also probably says something about Not seeing you get on? =P
Nice one, only thing I would change is the ears, they look odd.
