Oh my, I just noticed that the community has better mappers than the company!
It's because valve doesn't work on maps 1 at a time. They also take them through hundreds of playthroughs and find all of the flaws. Also they set a slightly above the benchmark so people don't get their computers melted when they run the game.
So yes they do visually but game play wise they are of a much less higher quality.
The Missing Information team should do exactly that then. Do the playtests with people and root out all the flaws and whatnot. Eyecandy is all good and well, but if theres little gameplay, it's not really a game.
Maybe rent out beta's for people to playtest, and make the system secure with steam n stuff, like garrysmod.com

This should not occur in my opinion, valve laid out these maps, I would like to play them in their original form, at least layout wise.

Why Did Valve Trash the game when it was already amazing?

The leak had an insignificant amount of things to do with Valve trashing the idea. They were aiming for a much less-stuffed package and to condense the story into shorter, but much 'cozier' bits. I remember Laidlaw or someone from the team stating in RTB, that they wanted the player to be more aware of what he's doing and what the goal is, unlike they did in Half-Life.
And being lost was an actual problem in Half-Life, now that I look back at it.
The HL2 beta zombies were better than the ones put in game :(
cuz despite the fact the stroy was interesting valve wanted to make the game fun and use asspects of the source engine so they trashed som parts and made the game more cinematic and have more phisics based gamplay which made the game fun after all
is this showing that when you reload the background becomes blurred because you're checking your gun?
I'm guessing the blur is caused by incoming damage, instead of reloading.
