Malice (branded as: Malice: 23rd Century Ultraconversion for Quake) is a total conversion for Quake, developed by Team Epochalypse (Ratloop) and Quantum Axcess, published by Quantum Axcess in November 1997 as a commercial game. Set in the 23rd century in the year 2230, the player assumes the role of a bandana wearing mercenary named Damage. Working for Colonel Bossman and his underground crime syndicate, B.O.S.S., the player is pitted against Bossman's main rival, Takahiro Industries. Takahiro Industries has its own security, too, with an army of guards as well as various sophisticated robots. It is these that Damage has to fight against, going through various futuristic environments in order to assassinate Takahiro himself. Being a total conversion of Quake, Malice features a similar gameplay style to that title. The game includes eighteen new levels, fourteen new enemies, various additional items (known as "Toyz" in the game), a new soundtrack, and new weapons. Unlike in Quake, weapons in Malice can be manually reloaded.

Hello, I'm close to releasing a Malice overhaul mod based on this patch, but I'm a little confused on how to properly credit. The description on the download page says credits are in readmes, but PATCH1013.TXT doesn't have the name of whoever authored the patch (apologies if it is you and I've misunderstood) and everything else seems to relate to the original release of Malice. There are comments by an 'ACC' in the QuakeC sourcecode, but I'm unsure if that's an actual username or just shorthand. Any help would be appreciated!

I heard someone say that for playing SHRAK in modern machines you can use a Quake port called DirectQ Direct3d quake... any other ports for the other expansions? Juggernaut, Malice, Dark Hour, Aftershock, etc

Warning: do not play this in Quakespasm with the included Unofficial Patch 1013. You'll get a game-crashing "Trigger in clipping list" error in several levels. Delete "pak4.pak" to fix the bugs caused by this "bugfix".

this so called patched version uploaded here is very strange, when playing on darkplaces r12337 via quad touch reload button doesnt seem to work, but when i download game files from other sources it works fine, but then theres fewer amount of custom sounds and models (tps player model for example in the main menu demo is default quake ranger, instead of mod's protagonist)

Keep trying to get through Malice but get "ERROR: Trigger in clipping list" in multiple source ports and even in Vanilla DOS Quake. Anyone know what this could be?

Sorry to bother you, OP, but have you considered writing up a how-to-install guide for this mod / add-on? I don't seem to be able to make it run for the life of me.

It's pretty much a standard procedure for (almost) any mod for Quake nowadays. Malice is a total coversion for registered version for Quake, wich basically boils down to it running like a mod. Same goes for SHRAK and X-Men: Ravages of Apocalypse.

Unpack the zip, grab the "MALICE" folder and put it in your sourceport's root directory (just use source port at this point, I tested it on MarkV and QuakeSpasm, not sure about the other ports, don't use the original exe files, they're too old). After that, launch it either through an ingame console (-game "insert ur mod's folder name here") or desktop shortcut parameter (-game "insert ur mod's folder name here", same thing basically). Also you can use SQL II (Simple Quake Launcher II).
