Exceed Haven


Exceed Haven is the maximum realization of QuakeWorld. No other modification has pushed the engine so far before
without resorting to serverside AND clientside hacks. Unimaginably superior to all previous multiplayer QuakeC projects
and 99% of extant FPS experiences INCLUDING the original Quake, Exceed Haven is the full package AND THEN SOME.
Forget Halo. Forget Unreal Tournament. Forget naptime. While MOST QuakeWorld mods only tweak the gameplay,
EXCEED HAVEN traps it in a rock'n'roll coffin and sets it ON FIRE. Don't like Quake? Not a problem, Nancy.
Exceed Haven is whole new animal.

FEATURES

  • Includes fully fleshed-out Deathmatch, Capture the Flag,
    and Cooperative game modes

  • Environmental hazards. Slime, lava, waste barrels, and
    gravity itself will make you fear the world

  • Intense, yet unrestrictive, incentive for true teamplay
  • Easily form, command, and disband 5-man squads on
    the fly

  • Generous auto-administration system should leave
    no need for skull-whacking server police
  • Don't want to risk hurting your team mates? Just
    buy a special item. Forget about praying the server
    admin turned off friendly-fire.

  • Dynamic inventory system allows each player to
    carry and dispense ammo/health at will

  • Added new animations to the player model. Jumping,
    swimming, and more

  • REAL game balance, instead of the feeble rock-paper-
    scissors psuedo balance found in 99% of FPSes
  • Collect raw metal and scavange equipment from the
    corpses of your enemies

  • War against lameness. With offenses like speed
    capping, pack hogging, and bunnyhopping disabled
    at a hardcoded level, n00b playtime is over before it even
    begins

  • Unyielding support. Any and every bug brought to my
    attention gets tackled with the force of an angry gorilla

  • Put an end to Quakeworld's broken scoring. When a
    team scores X number of frags, it will NO LONGER be
    multiplied by the number of players ON that team.

  • No individual frags in TF/CTF game mode. Say goodbye
    to all those hotshots more concerned with thier place on
    the scoreboard than being a valuable team mate
  • Smart maprotation. Exceed Haven always chooses the
    next map based on the current category, whether or
    not players are present, and never selects the same map
    twice in a row

  • Careful randomization of monsters strikes a balance
    between a map's original design and the utterly
    unpredictable

  • Sophisticated impulse system packs the greatest
    number of actions into the smallest number of
    buttons

  • Replaced id Software's original Level Intermission
    code. No more frustration as Quakeworld slowly and
    painfully lumbers on to the next map
  • User-defined player class creation in the style of Custom
    Team Fortress, yet without the all gamebreaking flaws of the
    latter

  • Numerous particle tricks squeeze THE best effects out of
    QuakeWorld, whether you're using a GL client with maximum
    eyecandy or lowly software rendering

  • Heightened interaction with the environment

  • Earn money in Cooperative Mode by slaying monsters
    like a steeljawed killer

to quakedev.com:27501 and KISS the sweet fires of RAPTURE.

(NOTE: This mod contains language that may offend puritans, Hillary Clinton, and other assorted
synonyms for a pussy. MORE NOTE: Server is finally back online and running the latest QWPROGs
not that anybody cares. MORE MORE NOTE: On Windows, EXCEED HAVEN works with zQuake,
FuhQuake, ezQuake, and maybe the original Quakeworld client. On Mac OS X, EXCEED HAVEN
only works with the buggy abandoned FuhQuake port and ezQuake. Other platforms untested.
BTW if you use ezQuake you should delete or rename the hud.pak file or else you know what?

Exceed Haven USERPACK(Windows installer, 4.5MB)
Hey, what's the difference between the Client Pack and the USERPACK?
The USERPACK's newer and it comes with more stuff. But to be specific, it
comes with the qwprogs.dat file + full documentation, additional game
assets(the new weaponmodels, tweaked monsters) , Exceed Haven
launcher application, and the MVDSV XE QuakeWorld server. If you're
new to Exceed Haven, get this... Or the USERPACK zip archive.

Exceed Haven USERPACK(platform neutral zip archive, 4MB)
Everything from the Windows installer, but without all the Windows.
You won't find the Exceed Haven launcher or MVDSV XE.exe here.
Extract to your Quake folder with directory structure intact. Read the
included READ ME NOW!! for more information.

EX-Launcher v1.1
A tiny little launcher application for Exceed Haven... But aside from the SWAP
SBAR feature, it can actually be used as a totally stand-alone front end for
Quake and QuakeWorld. Useful... If you have Windows. Credit goes to
xilink for giving me the idea. Sort of.

Exceed Haven QWPROGS.DAT, QEXPO EDITION
Wanna run your own Exceed Haven server? Download this. Useful
for when the main server goes all pearshaped, or if you want to tackle
Cooperative Mode all by yourself(God help you). Includes documentation.
The QEXPO Edition fixes a ton of bugs, makes netplay alot friendlier, and
tightens up some things here and there. Note that this also comes bundled
with the USERPACK.

You can treat Cooperative Mode like singleplayer, but even if you cheat, playing it alone is so difficult it'll smash your soul into a million screaming pieces of horror. If you're a masochist, Christmas come early this year.
