Lost Alpha is a new episode of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series made by dezowave group for free!
We are testing the SDK public release, which is currently 2gb packed. It contains several test levels, and 4 story levels so you can see how we made the tasks, you can experiment a lot. We also include the written part of our knowledge base, which will help newcomers, or even advanced modders to create more quality content for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. Thankfully most of the documentation is already avaliable on the wiki sites, or included with old stalker builds, we just updated them, and added our own notes where it was necessary.
All the updated editors (ae, le, se, pe), and xr tools are available (xrai, xrlc, xdro) which will let you create a bit bigger and more detailed levels for the game. These tools were created for the base Lost Alpha engine, which is numbered 1.3. Updating the base SoC SDK was necessary for the new rendeing modes, and game engine changes, as well to be able to handle bigger and more detailed levels.

This is what a STALKER game needs!
I wonder if this will light a big spark again in the STALKER modding scene.
yessssssssssss
This dev team is magic!
I suspect that the Dev team are really Angels come to Earth.
Yusssss!!!
I guess you don't have any idea about how complicated X-RAY SDK is :D You even need to look up WIKI to know how to free-look (left mouse button+right mouse button).
They have new tools in LA X-RAY SDK though, but I don't expect it to be as fun to use as other games' SDK.
Still great news for people who know how to use X-RAY SDK, or for those who have patience to learn.
"We also include the written part of our knowledge base, which will help newcomers" - and that is what i'm talking about!
Sorry for this stupid question but:What is SDK?
SDK (software development kit) - tools for creating or modifying games.
Basically X-RAY SDK lets you to:
1. Create levels (merge pre-made object parts together) (.level)
2. Add characters, objects to levels (.spawn)
3. Import .object files to Actor Editor, modify (set up animations, bones and hit boxes) and save as .OGF (basically that's the way you convert 3ds max models to STALKER).
4. Edit particles using Particles editor.
And many more things...
Thanks for the info guys :D
I imagine all mayham breaking loose with this SDK power........everyone creates their insanty type mods.
Is this going to include the source, or just compiled binaries?
Hi everyone, does anyone have a save file they could upload to dropbox for me? I had put in many hours before patching the game to 1.3003 (after a story bug wouldn't let me progress) and i dont fancy tracing my steps all over again. thanks in advance.
As soon as this SDK drops don't be surprised if the major STALKER mods make announcements.
I'm looking at you LURK mod team.
LURK on LA engine ... yes please
Wow.. what exactly is this going to mean for STALKER modding I wonder.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.-Lost Alpha Complete? :D
Get out of here stalker
Lol it was just a thought.
A bad thought... A very, very bad thought...
I agree.
YES!
Yes!
I'm feeling an Ambient Audio Overhaul might be in order...
I added lots of snd env boxes to buildings, and open areas, where we could set eax effects, but that wasn't working fine or at all in the old engine, till we updated it. Still, it wasn't used in "final", because it needs tremendous amount of testing. We need to raise all values in order to hear the changes in game, but as I said, it needs lots of finetuning. Check this old video, you will see what I mean :)
It is possible to bypass EAX completely using the source code to switch the sound render to OpenAL and enabling all of the features into the sound environments. OpenAL has it's own impressive list of DSP (reverb, compression, doppler, etc) - it is even more robust than EAX :)
Inb4 S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Nexus page filled with Hentai and rideable dragons.
When is it gonna be released?
Now we can truly create our own dream game!
the nice thing is, everyone has different dreams and imagination :) good luck with making your own dream game!
how powerful LA SDK compared to COP SDK?
