Korsakovia is a new experimental mod by the makers of Dear Esther. It's a survival horror about delusion, paranoia and the end of the world.
Resolution Magazine said they've "Never played a game that fucked with me so much" and that "It’s rare for a game to instil such panic. It’s up there with ‘Shock 2 and Silent Hill in that respect".
Hide the matches, break the TV screen, gouge out your eyes, turn out the lights and play it on your own late at night.

I know most people will disagree with me. I found this mod extremely boring since its start. The mapping is overall blocky and simple. The decals are badly positioned. Maps are not very detailed. The story is by far the most weird and stupid I've ever seen. It's also boring to get through a whole map just to pick up a god damn crowbar just to fight even more "Collectors". I've stopped playing it on Chapter 3 once I got the crowbar. Stupid mod, Dear Esther is sure better. I'am not one of these shoot 'em up fan. I like every kind of game and mod. But this one failed on my opinion.
Work on it more. I'am just a guy that likes nicely made mods.
scariest game ive played by far!!
that black smoke scares the shiz outta me
Awesome work again! Keep it up!
Awesome voice acting, and the black smoke was so cool.
i started playing the game and just like in dear esther, both atmosphere and narration are absolutely engrossing. art in it's purest form. expression at its best. it's as if i understand exactly what the devs have in mind. very few full fledged games in history have managed to make it for me.
in both mods, however, the narration tends to get "drowned" by either music or sfx and in this mod in particular by "action" moments as well.
i stopped playing the mod waiting for subtitle support or better audio balance.
can someone confirm a release date for the patch? will the patch address any of these issues in the first place or should i get on with it as it is?
thanks in advance.
I can confirm that there is someone looking at rebuilding this quite significantly, taking on problems raised with the first release, but also overhauling the mod visually. Can't say more than that apart from it's already looking really good...
patience then. i want nothing to ruin my experience with this one.
thanks for the reply.
keep it up. you guys are excellent. i just hope you won't stop sharing your thoughts and ideas with us anytime soon.
Damn it damn it damn IT! I KNEW he would put something like that at the end, I KNEW IT! But it still scared me s***less :(
Never before have I been scared of balls of smoke this badly
Wow! I haven't had a game scare me so much since Diablo! They don't make too many of these, so I am glad I found this one.
Those posters... geez... some of them were just plain creepy. Those dark mist enemies are really great, every time I see one I think "Oh dear". They did get a little annoying, especially because it is never really explained what to do about them, run or kill 'em. If you added a noise when you hit them, I might know that I am doing something.
The levels were great. I did have a general lack of direction, especially in the "factory". Lots of doors, I don't know which one to go through next. The voice overs are marvelous, and seem so gentle compared to what you are seeing and feeling. I like the idea of the dark, unlit levels, but I found that they hurt my eyes after a while. Not enough to gouge them out though.
Finally, the cracks on the screen to represent damage or nifty and creative. However, they are not very visible in the dark levels, and I have to find a light source just to know how much damage I have taken.
Overall, absolutely wonderful and unique!
