"Sir unknown enemy contacts."
"Just rebels, send a communication to h.q."
"Roger that sir... wait a second! We're receiving a message!"
Regular Covie invasion message.
"Send an S.O.S."
"What's your plan sir?"
"We need to broadcast a full report and make sure that the civilians can evacuate,It's been an honor!"
After reviving the report, Anchor 99 registered an explosion and lost contact with ship. The civilians were evacuated from the Saturn colony and Anchor 99 prepared for an epic battle!

oops forgot the quotation marks :L

but Cas943 is right Cortana said those words in Halo 2 just before Regret's fleet dropped out just of Cairo's battle cluster :)

Which is weird, because as I said, the Gallilean Moons are colonized. :P

In fact, I think it was the CQC armor that was manufactured on Ganymede?

why is it odd? I thought those "whispers" were a prelude to regret's iminent arrival, which would also mean these "whispers" would probably be in slipspace.

Yeah, i think it's whispers of signals that are either out of the ordinary for human communications and that stand out from background noise, or signals detected in Slipspace.

Theoretically, it could just be a feint signal or radiation given off when slipspace is opened, that echos throughout slipspace in the immediate area. Like each jump gives off a very weak ripple inside of slipspace.

No I meant why would you send a probe when four of Jupiter's moons are colonized and have substantial military technology on each of them.

V3LO Dec 8 2011, 9:40am replied:

Slipspace probes described in FoR? From the sounds of it, the Covenant slipspaced into the system based on the rough co-ordinates they had gotten from artifacts, and then made multiple successive jumps to refine the location down to Earth, so they'd literally be appearing in real space just long enough for them to make a second jump, probably too short a time for local imaging to get a look at them.

There are several theories that the covenant drives work by making multiple rapid short jumps, dropping into normal space for milliseconds and jumping again and that it's a contributing factor to their accuracy.
