Is that marine holding a Spartan Laser?

Nvm. It is just a SPNKr, from the angle of the camera it looks like a Spartan Laser. But, I do see a Golden Warthog XD

And I am guessing that this map is New Mombassa?

This map is nothing... It's a junk map I threw together to show off props and decals. Seriously, I put it together in 30 seconds... This is in no way a representation of a final map.

Maps should be great looking with these props

iooks good i jsut think it should be a few shades deeper, and a bit more filled out (like in the center). i thought these were going to be used for if they take so much damage, the blood comes out of them and lands nearby, wich this would be perfect for.

What should be filled out? The scorch marks/cracks? The map's lighting? The blood?

I think he means the blood. The Covenant blood looks great, but something is wrong with the Human blood.

Hey, that looks great. The skid marks do look a little rough and unrealistic, but I suppose skid marks are pretty difficult to simulate realistically anyway (certainly in 30 seconds ;).

But I really do love the cracks and craters in the asphault. Great job, this is really innovative!

Those sharp angles are the skid marks conforming to the terrain...and I just did a really junky hill to show off that they could... This is in now way intended to show what a final map will look like. Consider it "alpha" footage.

We got Marines down! We need a medic!!!, awsome work!

I got a question as well, are we going to be able to produce Army Troopers too?

They will not be in the mod. I was originally planning to have them as an indigenous force that spawned from local military base props but I've decided just to cut them...

will the marines be able to deploy metal barricade to upgrade their defense as long as their "Taking Cover?" like the same with the elites sometimes putting out those shield barricades. just a bit curious seeing if you can add some more strategy to this. Like will wreckage provide cover?

No to all. The AI in this game really isnt intelligent enough to use a cover system...they would deploy their shield then try to shoot through it. Lol. They have a hard enough time just shooting on a hillside. Lol

Will the Flood have it's own blood?

Reply Good karma Bad karma+2 votes
the_Farseer Author
the_Farseer - - 6,407 comments

Indeed they shall :). The flood was the main reason i started this decal thing in the first place...i figured it would come in handy with them seeing as how they tend to leave goo/guts and stuff everywhere. Plus a flood level needs blood props...blood with an eerie absence of bodies...

Will the true city maps have tight corridors, Kinda like using the map from ODST as example?

Also an Idea for the war torn static/props, maybe have the city's of the outer colonies battle damaged, and the inner colonies look unharmed simulating the initial assault.

They will have some tight areas but for the sake of rts gameplay, some open space is required.

in some of your maps are you going to ahve those foruner objects that randomly fire blue fuel rod looking things. i don't know what there called. but there are two of them on Vahalla (Halo 3), and there is one in forgeworld (Halo Reach).

I noticed your skid marks are really detailed and not blurred as if rubber was dragged across a rough surface. As it, it looks like muddy tire tracks.

Description

This is just a very simple demo for the decal system I talked about in my last video. I literally threw this together in the map editor in 30 seconds so don't judge too hard... I just wanted to give you all some visual examples of what I was talking about, in case you were left wondering or confused.

For those that care, this is also the general idea I'm after for urban maps as well. Obviously the "living" units will be wherever you tell them to go but there will be "dead" unit props around as well...dead marines, elites, etc...that are just props to look at and make the environment more battle worn.
