That looks awesome.

Also, will the Falcon get faster as it travels in a straight line? Or is that not possible with the engine?

Thanks :)

This function is implemented by default for most ground units, including the Falcon. Almost all of the ground locomotors use this function.

Awesome, the sky is simply amazing. Is there a way to make the planets border less noticeable?

The funny thing is that the dark ring that I think you are referring isn't in the original texture... I don't know if it's the way the shader is interpreting the texture data or what but if I knew, it would be gone. lol

I don't think there is an acceleration multiplier tag.

Speed vs thrust. That's what controls it. The tag you are referring to is another variable that can be added to the equation but is not necessarily required for the function to work.

looks excellent, and reminds me of when my team would charge on Spire with the Falcon

and how much will this cost, and im guessing you only get one :P

Falcons are not capped at one :) You can build as many as you like. They take 22 seconds to build and cost 1200 credits per. 1200 credits is somewhat expensive in relation to other units in the mod.

Those values are subject to change.

It'll depend just on how useful it really is. If I can transport six squads of ODSTs behind enemy lines with three Falcons, it'll be worth twice that!

Think of it like the US Marine Osprey. It's for greater maneuverability while keeping good flight speed.

Or something like that.

For your education:

For all intents and purposes, the Falcon IS the Osprey... The design specs are almost identical, except that the Falcon is build around a smaller crew compliment.

Have you considered replacing the modeled rotors with planes that have a motion blurred texture applied?

the_Farseer Jan 12 2012, 4:35pm replied:

I had considered that...the problem is then no shadows and harder to make a convincing animation for the deploy/undeploy states that are needed so it can act as a transport (rotors slow to a stop as it lands, etc). Besides, I don't think the rotors moved that fast in Reach anyway...they were slower than a typical rotors because additional lift was provided from the little jets underneath.

Dont worry though...I think the animations I made are convincing enough :)
