Don't get me wrong. Eternal Silence should be my favorite online shooter of all time. I absolutely love it.
There is just one gigantic problem: It is 100% dead. There has literally never been a single person on every time I've played it.
Even though the amount of players in this game is dropping the idea and execution of the idea was excellent and I would love to see this game keep on going :D
This is the kind of mod that only it can be. What I mean is that there is simply no other mod like it. This is one of the only GAMES that actually let you fly in a space ship and blow stuff up, and allow you to get out of the space ship and shoot up some bad dudes. This mod is simply incredible

This mod accomplishes (successfully) what few games have: It combines two different genres of game play and blends them together rather seamlessly. The basic first-person shooter becomes boring very quickly to me. The monotonous running around, mostly twitch element of play grows old.
Eternal Silence mixes it up by providing a tactical space shooting element that isn't overly complicated in its design and transitions well with the infantry aspect of the game. The objective nature of "Hardcore" mode is most appealing to me, where a team must first eliminate the enemy's Corvette ships which guard their capital ship. Only then are they allowed to board the capital ship with infantry and attempt to capture all the important stations aboard.
There is a good variety of fighter craft to pilot as well as many different infantry classes. A few problems still need addressing, such as the glitch with the fighters on some maps that hurl you instantly into the hangar wall, but all-in-all, this is one of the most rewarding space action games I've played. Eve Online could take a few lessons from Eternal Silence.
