Latest News: Eternal Silence: Polish Patch
2 comments by MadMechwarrior on Sep 13th, 2009 digg this super bookmark Good news. Our new awesome coding duo, Verox and headprogrammerczar (aka. Juzz) have been hard at work on a small "Polish Patch" which has been submitted to Valve. It should be active on Steam shortly. The change log is below. They tell me they are also working on a big, exciting patch. I'll let headprogrammerczar explain it himself: headprogrammerczar wrote:Verox, NoX, and I have some big things planned for upcoming releases. In the mapping department, NoX is working on a tutorial map series, and I continue to put the finishing touches on Navigator. Even more interesting though is what us coders are doing. We will be implementing Steamworks features, namely achievements and stats. The long-awaited gunship dropdown menu will be included in the next update after this. Support for demos is also planned, so you can finally share that video of you hitting a fighter with a missile from a kilometer away without a lock. For server admins, some improvements to the way player names are reported will make admins better able to keep troublemakers off their server (although this isn't really an issue). The tutorial map series will get a lot of attention too, with new map entities and a new game mode. In the meantime, spread interest and keep the game alive!

The space combat is almost perfected but the fps combat reallyneeds balancing.
What stops you from flying into the skybox and hitting it?
man, looks, sweet.. hard to believe it's a HL 2 mod, looks nothing like the game. Really awesome!
is this mod be available in Half-life 2 Episode 1?
Reock's Reveiws!
I'll be honest with you, I didn't play this one much but it wasn't the games fault per say, It just didn't grip me is all.
ES is probably the most sci-fi tricked out mod on the source engine, the space ships were quite neat, if a bit hard to learn, the space combat put me in mind of Colony Wars but I never could hit anything, in fact my first time playing I grabed the transport ship and like four guys jumped in with me before i took off, im flying along thinking. "These guys are so screwed." But I actully managed to find my way to the asteroid we needed to be going to before anyone figured out I had no clue where I was going, or for that matter how to stop once i got there. The ground battles, if you can realy call it 'ground' being in a space station, ship or asteroid, where pretty cut and dry. Shoot bad guy, don't let bad guy capture objective, or get away with the bomb. Kind of Domination meets Capture the Flag, The weaponry was pretty diverse, though I personaly enjoyed the scouts ability to plop there main gun down on a tri-pod and control it with a remote from nearby.
If your bored , need a new mod to play or just like spaceship combat then you might enjoy Eternal Silence although I didn't realy play it enough to get a feel for its flaws, I do know It addresses latency the same way CS:S does, that being the very very annoying rubber band effect and the space ships radar is very vague making it tricky to find enemy ships with out pointing your ship twards obvious signs of combat and humping the target function.
Funny review, but seriously, does nobody browse the controls or objectives? It's plastered all over the screen on each server join even. Probably put twice as much effort into guess work as it'd take skimming over the info provided.
It didn't grip you, because you didn't even know what you were playing.
I didn't have to.. All I did was attach my joystick and everything was perfectly set
lmao! I just checked the Eternal Silence "Steam Update News" on Steam and couldn't help posting this! Maybe it's been seen by most of you, but eh... I had no idea that ES was 40 years old already! Talk about a Steam Blooper!! (Yes folks! It's Steam's Fault! Not the ES Teams!) lol... Check this out...
Stargatetew.com
(Forgive the stargatetew.com linkage... I just thought it easier to upload to my own server rather than ImageShack or whatever ;) )
If you check the update news for a game that doesn't have any, you'll see that. If it has no updates, it has no "Latest Update" date, and that value is zero. In a lot of database software, December 31, 1969 is the zero date.
I have no idea why it's that date specifically, but this is why you're seeing it.
no shotgun in here
