Cross of Iron 1.20 adds a third column of doctrines as well as some new units.
Cross of Iron is a Company of Heroes (CoH) mod that’s main aim is to balance the four factions in the game and their respective doctrines.
Its secondary aim is that of historical accuracy, but without making severe compromises in gameplay.
One of the main features of this mod is that it intends to do the above without making major gameplay changes to the original CoH experience, so no one-hit-kill AT shots or huge-range Howitzers.
A very important feature of Cross of Iron is tailoring the units, abilities and upgrades to be more specific for each Army Doctrine, balancing cons with pros, while also adding some new build options.
As examples, the fearsome Knight’s Cross Holders are now available only to the Wehrmacht Terror Doctrine in order to give them a better late-game infantry unit and more incentive to play with, while the Panther needs an extra 'phase' in order to unlock it and the US receive an AT Bazooka Squad to better counter Axis armour.
Another important feature would be the usage of High-Quality community skins that better differentiate one 'army' from the other as well as make the game more immersive, with different camos and accessories. These HQ skins carry on to the SP Campaigns as well.

There's been a long silence from us Devs around these parts. In that silence many of you have wondered if the mod's dead, and i think it's about time i made it official.
Cross of Iron is dead.
Sadly work stopped about two years ago due to unresolvable crashes, frustratingly poor AI (and lacking the talent to rewrite script and improve it), CoH's transfer to Steam, and the lack of free time stemming from real life distractions.
Everyone here on the CoI dev team has moved onto other projects, and i've been forced to not only move away from CoH 1 modding, but cut back on gaming in general.
I myself in particular have poured years of constant work into this mod, from it's humble beginnings as a balance and bug-fix mod, to what it currently is. It has truly been a pleasure developing this mod and bringing it to all the CoH players who've tried it and loved it, and i thank you all for sticking with my mod and following it to this quiet end.
