Cross of Iron 1.00 Full Setup
Nov 06, 2009 Full Version 10 commentsThe initial Cross of Iron 1.00 full release. Enjoy!

Cross of Iron is a Company of Heroes (CoH) mod that’s main aim is to balance the four factions in the game and their respective doctrines.
Its secondary aim is that of historical accuracy, but without making severe compromises in gameplay.
One of the main features of this mod is that it intends to do the above without making major gameplay changes to the original CoH experience, so no one-hit-kill AT shots or huge-range Howitzers.
A very important feature of Cross of Iron is tailoring the units, abilities and upgrades to be more specific for each Army Doctrine, balancing cons with pros, while also adding some new build options.
As examples, the fearsome Knight’s Cross Holders are now available only to the Wehrmacht Terror Doctrine in order to give them a better late-game infantry unit and more incentive to play with, while the Panther needs an extra 'phase' in order to unlock it and the US receive an AT Bazooka Squad to better counter Axis armour.
Another important feature would be the usage of High-Quality community skins that better differentiate one 'army' from the other as well as make the game more immersive, with different camos and accessories. These HQ skins carry on to the SP Campaigns as well.

After a lengthy time of development and testing, Cross of Iron 1.00 is now finally released.
There is a comprehensive PDF guide that can be read during the install process and well as the full release notes afterwards.
We hope you enjoy our mod, but don't forget to track our progress because we still have many great things in store for the future.
We would also greatly appreciate if you can direct any feedback regarding the current release version to cross.of.iron.mod [AT] gmail [DOT] com
Keep in mind you'll need CoH patched to 2.500 at least!
Now a little tease for some new stuff we've added :p

Cool Mod nice work guys. It adds some nice variety to CoH. What exactly does the Command Half-track do though? It doesn't seem to do much so I wondered what is the point of it.
YH I NOTICEED but urm the allied ai takes 2h to get tanks in and thay dont use shermans and the upgreaded sherman gun sucks the only things i could use 4 axis tanks were 2,1 tank destroyers wich sux to have to use 2 tanks 4 1 hetzer and the sherman upgreaded gun takes 4 shoots on 1 scout car and the german's used there jagpanter crap evry time!!!! no offence love the mod but other then the modling its unbalanced taNK COST And cool down times britain sux v axis and america v waffen but i like the mod just to little units for diffrent things :( mostly the airborn for both brit and america P:( :) great job thow i like the skins but the allies and axis need more power to have a clash of titans rather then these little nooby battles :)
great mod but axis need more tanks weffen-ss need better units and upgreads and british need more tanks cos thay get pwned by infantry with at but axis mg pwn tank support so u need a choice and axis forces have great anti infantry armour but no heavy also american ai sux thay never mass and attack u or use shermans your ai or u can pwn with tanks and thay cant or dont try to stop u :) also theres a bug with waffen ss aa guns wene destroyed thay blow out of there trench things which is strange :) gd mod thow but laggy
Sadly with all the new skins, models and units ingame the mod does require a slightly better PC than CoH's bare minimum specs, i myself can only play up to 4 player maps and a select number of 6 player maps, with many overcluttered or huge community made maps lagging out.
The Waffen-SS and the Germans in general have plenty of armour and are quite strong in that regard, but they still rely on doctrine specific call-ins like the Tiger and King Tiger for their heaviest armour. If anyone needs more armour it's the Allies and particulary the US, unfortuantly we can't put much in the way of new allied vehicles in unit we get more vehicles modelled, skinned, animated, and put in the game.
All AI have the tendency to "die", where they put up little resistance and rely on their doctrine call-in units. This is particulary noticible with the US, who often won't aquire enough experience points from the few engineers they build to start getting call-in units. If you notice the AI isn't putting up any resistance, just restart the match and they should be OK. I'd also recommend playing on either Hard or Expert, this is where they really start getting crafty and will often put tanks and AT guns to good use.
is this an auto instaler *fingers crossed* also the king tiger please say u fixed it from its bull shit 3 sherman pwn it shit shooting self ^^
Great Job!
i do not know if this was mentioned but if it was i will mention it again, why does the Americans have a panther tank?
BuddaBear, the Americans don't have a Panther tank, the British have one, and it's because they captured it. Balance-wise though, the Glider-borne Infantry doctrine was lacking armour and a one-time-only call-in was a good solution, and the Panther was ideal as it's got good anti-tank capabilities and is tough, bu isn't all that great vs. infantry.
Brandothecommando, We welcome any and all feedback on this mod, and you can send an email to cross.of.iron.mod@gmail.com with any bugs, concerns, or comments on the state of the mod.
The Sdkfz 250/9's weapons are actually identical to the Sdkfz 222, however it does have more health, but is slower and does not have the Overdrive ability. It costs slightly more, but i agree perhaps the cost could be increased more too offset it's durability. It's quite an effective vehicle early game, and works well in packs with some light AT halftracks until medium tanks and AT show up.
I know how you feel with low settings, i too have to run everything on Low, but there is a big difference between Allied and Axis units' skins, and after a while you will also notice a difference between Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS units. As far as vehicles go, most are specific to their own faction, while vehicles that are shared between factions (like the StuG IV) intentionally have very different skins so that the player can tell them apart.
Perhaps I have some quirk with my version of cross of iron or something. It appears to me that the 250/9 fires about twice as fast with it's 2cm flak cannon but still for the same duration as the 222. Maybe I am just crazy and in shock that the armoured car for the panzer elite can actually do something now instead of just dying!
Like I said, great mod and I look forward to actually playing with it against some human opponents.
