MC40?
"Assault Carrier" or "Strike Carrier", maybe?
Shouldn't the missile bays/escape pods on the Athens carrier be much smaller if they're supposed to be the same type that's on the frigate?
...okay, I know this is completely missing the point, but Wikipedia says that "Tursiops" is a genus, rather than a particular species, of dolphin. Was that what you meant?
...accidentally hit the "negative karma" button, my bad.
I forget...is the Rapier drone something we've seen before?
If you don't want it to look too generic, you could always just do something different with the size of the rear section - have it taper or flare out a bit, for example. It just seems kind of strange to have vertically-oriented engines on a horizontally-oriented ship...
THANK YOU for adding turret hardpoints. I never understood why they didn't have those on the originals...
Love the design for the forward section, but why the conventional cruiser-esque engine layout? Wouldn't it make more sense to have something like the Spirit of Fire's engine layout for a ship this wide?
Not sure how well that would work in open space, since there's nowhere to take cover. And judging from the explosions in the picture, it looks like this fleet might be getting as much fire as they're giving...
The image has Bungie's logo on it. Is this original Bungie concept art? If so, where is it from, I've never seen it before.
I have yet to meet an 18 year-old who qualified as "mature"...
I don't know what you're basing your condemnation of Halo Wars on, but you're clearly not looking at the game's actual reviews or sales numbers b/c otherwise you'd realize that you're in the minority when you say that it was a terrible game. Trying to promote your own mod by bashing somebody else's work is really classless of you.
If the Hermes can carry longswords, then it much be a lot larger than a standard frigate, right? How much larger are we talking?
1) Fusion rockets/torpedoes aren't the same thing as nukes. Look it up on halopedian.
2) Every UNSC ship frigate-size or larger has at least 1 nuke on board. They aren't that rare.
If you're making reactor upgrades, you could also have an upgrade that reroutes additional power to the MAC, thereby decreasing the amount of time needed to charge up between shots. I've always wondered why the UNSC didn't do that...
Improved engine cooling means...increased speed?
So how large & what kind of armaments are we talking about for this ship?
Wait...nevermind I guess I was looking at the underside thruster.
Then why does the Tigershark image 3 to the right of this one on the images slideshow have a completely different engine arrangement from this one?
I'm confused about the engine arrangement on the Tigershark. In this image it looks like it only has one big engine and two smaller ones, but in some of the earlier images it looks like it has two separate banks of two engines each (such as in the image 3 to the right of this one). Am I missing something?
It still has Archers though, right? I'm assuming the orange triangle-y things are missile pods, since that's what they are supposed to be when they're on frigates.
Oh...I figured it was some kind of longer-range missile than the Archer, like the "fusion rockets" it mentions in the Halo Encyclopedia. But yeah, I guess a point-defense missile launcher makes sense, too.
It always amazes me how little turret design has actually changed since WWII, even in science fiction. Compare: Upload.wikimedia.org
But if you think about it, though, flying VERY close to the hull of a capital ship would be the safest thing to do in a fighter, since heavy turbolasers will have trouble tracking them at that distance. Also, a small capital ship like a frigate that's right next to the hull of a larger ship could only be targeted with the guns immediately adjacent to that ship, thus reducing the volume of incoming fire. There's a Rebel frigate that uses this tactic in a scene in Return of the Jedi.
I was under the impression that the SSV cruiser was around the same size as the Turian cruiser, if not smaller.
