A Halo mod for the critically acclaimed Sins of a Solar Empire, that aims to capture the fast paced intensity of the Halo series.
Olalà... I like.
Still waiting for the Phoenix-class...
Good thing come to those who wait ;P
It's gonna be huge on this scale, i think...
Phoenix is smaller than the carrier above.
I always thought the standard frigate was smaller
You have your names mixed up, nooblet. The Phoenix is a carrier 2.5 KM long. Frigates are the smallest ships up there.
IIRC, in-game the Phoenix-class refit colony ship is a lot bigger than the Athens-class carrier.
Is our current Phoenix mesh just that inaccurate?
yeah i know that, twas talking about the frigates, i thought they were smaller, i thought they were the size of the ship between them and the prowler.... if you were talking about the class (carrier, battleship, frigate) i meant the most common one found in the halo universe..... (not that great with the actual versions of that class) sorry if i caused confusion... especially in this one, lol :P
So you thought that the frigates were the size of corvettes.
It's kind of hard to get a sense of scale in the Halo games IMO, they don't show ships close together clearly often, and then they throw you curve balls like the Covenant supercarrier. I felt like I didn't have enough eyes to see that thing.
Not like if one were to count individual eyeballs, but if eyes was a substance that you could quantify with some standard measurement for fluid volume.
(e.g. I only had 320 milliliters of eyes, so that supercarrier blew my ******* mind.)
Adore the textures! Is there going to be Marathon class cruisers in this mod?
She is in dev right now. :)
Very nice to hear.
i wasnt prepared for the epicness, so i had to do a double take on the picture
everyday i refresh my page in the hope that a playable beta has been released, but seeing this awesomeness will probably make me refresh even more >.<
Allow me to question.
Do you plan to add the UNSC Infiniti?
Thank you in advance.
If it is, expect it when the mod's released for Rebellion. Long ways away.
On the forums from CanadaMan: "It's important that for the most part, this mod has an "official year", 2543. Any attempt to go into Halo 4 will likely have to wait until Rebellion (which seems reasonable anyways)"
This is why Ember is part of the SotP internet wolf-pack now.
He actually pays attention.
Indeed. A true bro.
more like, a true hero.
marathon will be in the line up as well right?
and nice work guys, those all look awesome!
how long did that take to render?
Your scale on all the ships for stuff like escape pods and archers are still off, but the ships still look nice.
Shouldn't the missile bays/escape pods on the Athens carrier be much smaller if they're supposed to be the same type that's on the frigate?
er...uh...****...um...the missiles are really big?
As long as i get to ruff up some covie chumps the archer pods can shoot car sized hot dogs for all i care :D
Wrong series but i don't care!
I think that leaves 7 more to go.
*Starts drooling incomprehensibly*
What's left now, just the Marathon?
Also Annihilater102 is working on the Valiant-class super-heavy cruiser (based on the UNSC Everest, the ship Admiral Cole commanded), concurrently with the Marathon-class refit cruiser.
As Unikraken has said in the main comments, the Valiant-class super-heavy cruiser will be based upon the Marathon-class refit cruiser, as no canon material has ever clearly illustrated it to our knowledge.
As for the Thermopylae-class supercarrier, quoting from the same post I quoted earlier, Canada has said on the forums: "And yeah, current thermop model is getting the boot."
a_lleras is modeling a fitting Supercarrier replacement mesh as we speak.
He's very excited about it, as are all of we. :D
I encourage everyone to join us on the forums where much information about the mod is available, and your input is acceptable.
Sorry, disregard all instances of the word 'refit' and this is accurate.
I would be interested to see what the Valiant will look like. This may have possibly been the Everest, as seen in the Genesis comic.
I actually brought this up on the forums just two days ago, and referenced that image.
Unikraken said this to me:
"The image above is heavily disputed. I've seen people argue before than the ship shown is actually just a Marathon in front of other ships. For instance, the front could be that way because of a frigate in the background.
Anywho, because there isn't a definitive image of the ship, we are making our own version in-house. It will be called the Valiant-class in the game, and our use of "Everest" or "Marathon Refit" has just been colloquial lingo.
The model will be a heavy modification of the Marathon model currently in production and will replace the current Marathon capital ship. Even if your image is accurate, the ship is clearly a modified Marathon, so either way this is the best course of action."
Your input is certainly appreciated though.
It should be interesting to see Annihilater's take.
Also I should say, this is one more good reason to go sign up at the forums, so you can follow all of these little details, and participate further.
so nice. fantastic job.
Wow, really nice job guys. Really nice job. I cant wait to see this mod in action.
are you going to add the new halo 4 ship moudles in jsut asking p.s. the mod looks great and been followingsince you first mentioned it looking forward to it comeing out :D
What is the native language of the UK? I've apparently been misinformed.
You know looking at the old Halcyon and the New Halcyon side by side. It almost looks as if the new Halcyon is the same as the old. Just with a bunch more armor slapped on over top of the original.
You mean...it looks...refit?
ba dum tis
Because...thats what it is?

An updated look at the re-invention of the UNSC.
Also, the Athens carrier is about as badass as it looks.
